I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in Aspergberg's Syndrome and other autistic spectrum behaviors.
This is a very interesting read for anyone who wants to become enlightened about the differences between men and females --- on average. We all know there are exceptions. Right?
One of the thrusts behind the book is the author's theory of Asperger's Syndrome. That is the reason I read the book. I believe Baron-Cohen has put his finger on a foundational element of Asperger's but not the entire picture. The author posits that those with Asperger's have an extreme-male mind (bent on systemitizing) I think rather that the systemitizing is just more rawly exposed by the absence of felt emotion. Be that as it may this is a courageous and engaging book, (which by the way, lest I mislead, is not at all about the actual behavior or social implications of Asperger's) The tests at the back are worth the price alone.
All in all an excellent work with some interesting new ideas and supporting evidence. Baron-Cohen is careful to indicate what we know and what is plausible speculation that requires more research. Highly recommended!
