I literally used only 2 pages from this book and made an A in my speech class. I honestly don't know if I should consider that a good thing because the book was expensive for being 1s and 0s on my PC. Unless your instructor is going to be quizzing/making exams from the book I suggest you save your money and simply get the 2 pages that illustrate the outline. If you have a speech instructor/professor/teacher earning their pay this book is pointless. Two Stars for the 2 pages. I am by no means belittling the author or his effort, the book has a lot of excellent information for future public speakers but if speech as a class is nothing more than something to mark off on your degree/graduation plan then just find the speech outline.

I ordered this book because it was required for my speech class. It did have a lot of common sense information that most people would already know but the book was very helpful, informative and interesting. Even if the book is not a requirement, I would recommend to anyone seeking a higher level of knowledge in speaking.

Very politically correct, and thus helpful if you plan on speaking to a cross-cultural audience. I had it for an introductory public-speaking college course (undergrad), and found it too heavy on PC and not heavy enough on basic public-speaking skills, an overall frustrating experience.

I was happy that this book was still being sold at since it is a much older edition. Sometimes schools do not change their books for a few years. And, the cost was very affordable. Delivery was on time.

I am sorry, but honestly this book is a waste of money. I bought this textbook for my speech class. The teacher never even used it in lecture, just told us to read on our own. The book provided zero good info. It's basically all common sense just written in a lengthy and boring way.

Buyers beware--when purchasing this textbook for classroom use, please note that internet access to [...] is not available unless one purchases the e text access card package...for an additional $44.00. Unfortunately our society is too set on making an extra buck rather than focusing on meeting the needs of students. I am totally unhappy with this purchase!

The company sent me this book at the expected date and shipping it back was very easy. No complaints there.
This book was fine. The writing was straightforward, no frills, and gave good examples. Sometimes it got repetitive which is maybe why it is so short. If public speaking is going to be your profession, this would be a great book to keep for beginners and helped me during my class but other than that, I wouldn't keep it.
If you work in the service industry or customer service, a lot of these are things you learn from the job. You will learn more doing the speeches themselves and using some pointers from the book. Good luck!
