I absolutely love this book and can't praise it highly enough. It contains original blues tunes with fun solos that a beginner can start getting to grips with and more advanced players will still enjoy. You really have to be quite competent to cope with the faster numbers. This compares very favorably with most other play-along books that only include the tune and no solo, and also with the more complex jazz books where you almost can't tell what the tune is at all. I'd like to see more books in this series for different styles, eg bebop, ballad and swing.

This book is great for the intermediate sax player. It includes a cd that has two tracks for each sheet of music; one with the sax notes and one without so you can play on your own. This is ideal for someone who is not quite ready to do their own improv, but learning to. The great thing about the music also is that once you learn the scales, improv is possible with the tracks that exclude the sax keys.
