Eating low carb makes me feel like a primadonna. It's not that I don't want to eat sugar cookies, fresh bread and pasta. It's that I don't believe those foods are particularly healthy, and I feel better when I don't eat them. The challenge is how to make day to day choices. This superb cookbook is (I believe) going to help with that. Written specifically for people who need to watch their carbs, it details how to make low carb soups, salads, appetizers and entrees. The author is also clearly passionate about how to cook, and that passion makes the book a fun read.

As an experienced cook, I found this cookbook to be well wrtten. There are excellent descriptions of ingredients and techniques. The recipes look interesting and flavorful. The only flaw I see is the fact that there are no serving sizes or carb counts included with the recipes. Having that information is essential for planning and sticking to a low carb eating plan. I HAD to count those carbs when I first started eating low carb.

This book has been a real help to me since a recent medical diagnosis and an old-school way of thinking about food. This is not a substitute for nutritional guidelines, it is more like a fun scavenger-hunt for information and interesting foods and receipes. The author goes to caring detail in offering suggestions for a well prepared cooking environment and what items and foodstuffs to have available. This book is very helpful in my home; i have been a stay-at-home mom, cooking for decades, and now have to get help from family (they have trouble putting together a PB&J). It has been a wonderful reference for us all. This reading is enjoyable and informative.

Again another carb cookbook that just doesn't deliver. Missing fiber count for most recipes and the recipes aren't foods you'd prepare for everyday lunches and dinner. Carb counts are also high for my plan. I'm beginning to think there is no one that can just write an everyday kind of low carb cookbook. One that has more than one recipe in it that you'd want to try. Sorry!

This is NOT a paleo-type low carb book though. It isn't an Atkins-type or gluten-free low carb either. It uses lentils and bulgar. It has some very interesting recipes with a spectrum of flavors and varieties from around the world, however, if you aren't adhering to a diet with these restrictions.
