Ready for Action
Durable cover material resists stains, moisture, and tearing. Elastic band closure holds the notebook tightly shut in your bag or pocket, keeping pages pristine.
Versatile and Convenient
A grid of light gray lines divides each page into 5 mm squares. A black ribbon bookmark lets you pick up right where you left off. The tough stitched binding lies flat for ease of use.
An inside back-cover pocket holds tickets, receipts, business cards, stamps, stickers, and any other flat items you want to keep handy.
Essentials notebooks all but eliminate bleed-through in standard use. Pens and fine-line markers lay down crisp ink without feathering. Colored pencil shows up vividly, and graphite erases cleanly with light pressure.
A timeless look meets long-lasting quality in the ideal all-purpose notebook. Essentials notebooks are designed to go anywhere and do anything, so the only limit is your creativity. The sturdy, streamlined black hardcover binding brings together sophistication and practicality. Grid-lined paper can do it all, from bullet journaling and sketching, to designing, to everyday writing. Archival quality preserves your work for years to come.

Our Company History
In 1928, at the age of twenty-two, Peter Beilenson began printing books on a small press in the basement of his parents’ home in Larchmont, New York. Peter and later, his wife, Edna sought to create fine books that sold at prices even a pauper could afford.
Today, still family owned and operated, Peter Pauper Press continues to honor our founders’ legacy and our customers’ expectations of beauty, quality, and value.

This essentials journal is a great price for me and I love squared paper so this option for me was great. The paper quality is nice too! This isn't watercolor paper but I don't have to worry about ghosting and bleeding 🙏☺!!! There IS slight ghosting (when using a thicker nib) however very minimal and I can write on both sides without it bugging me. Besides the 20$ I wasted on the Leuchtturm1917, I am a happy person!
I've since then bought 3/4 more? My mom loves the journal too and I got her one. After using it for almost 3 months, I still like it. The design is simple and the paper is still great. I have noticed some of the pages folding out? Like the middle section where the stitching is slips out a little or the inside corners fold. But this has only happened to a couple of pages and doesn't bother me too much because I just glue two pages together then. My journal still opens flat and I'm about 70 pages in. I have noticed though that fountain pens feather a little especially if you're heavy handed and slow. If you write light and quick you'll be fine.
I have dissected my Leuchtturm and ripped the extra ribbons out and glued them into the essentials journal. I've also bought a pen loop to hold my pen because it's more convenient for me. Overall I really love this journal and it's helped me keep up with my Bullet journal.
