Lapis of Luxury is a really nice color, and I was eager to get it in the mail. But once it was on, I hated it. And not the color itself, just the color on me. I'm tanned skinned with an olive undertone, and it just didn't work for me, unfortunately. Gave it to a co worker with a fairer skin tone and it worked much better for her.

This is my first Essie polish that I've purchased and I was looking forward to this one because I love the shade of this color. I bought this at the same time that I purchased two other polished and while I was most looking forward to getting this one it is now my least favorite one. This is almost solely based on the fact that the application is very light. I expect that this polish will need about 4 coats to get a nice opaque finish. I don't have the stamina for that many coats so I have yet to actually wear it. I expect that I might have to layer a different polish underneath to use it. Love the color, but the formula is NOT good!

Update: This only took 3 coats, not 4, so the formula isn't as bad as I had expected it to be and the color is as lovely as I expected.

Its not a kiddie blue (if that makes sense) this is a very sexy & sophisticated blue. I've brought this color to the nail salon when getting my nails done & I have gotten many compliments from young & old alike. Its very pretty & very feminine.

So here's the thing. I bought this from Beauty Shine and it looked totally legit...
My mom got this color done at her nail salon and the next time she went they couldn't find it,
so she asked me to get it online. She remembered the name exactly. So I did.
When she went back to her salon, she got her nails done, but halfway through they found the bottle,
so she did her toes in their Lapis of Luxury. The two colors are DIFFERENT! This one ends up looking almost purple-ish
compared to the lapis of luxury from the nail salon, which is blue.

So weird. I don't know how that happens or if this was a fake or what, but just beware if you are looking for this EXACT color.

This is the first Essie polish that I have ever tried, and since then I've invested in a ton more. I was shocked at how beautiful and long lasting this polish was. It did take about 3 coats to get the color perfect, but 2 coats would probably have been fine. The polish took just under two weeks to show signs on wear and didn't chip at all while I had it on. My nails have always peeled when they get longer, but something about Essie polishes keeps them strong enough to grow out.

I have been searching for a blue nail polish and the customer picture provided seemed to be exactly what I was looking for. But, I was really disappointed that it has more of a purple tone (almost lilac) to it than what I was expecting. I would put this more in a purplish category, than a true blue.

Still, I have to give it 4 stars because it is a pretty color and provides good coverage. 2 coats are definitely needed though.

This is the first Essie polish I've tried and I gotta say, I'm not impressed! In order to get the color to show up I had to use two coats of a natural nail color as a base (I used Wet n Wild's 2% Milk) and then I used about 3 or 4 coats of Essie's Lapis of Luxury. After all the coats are applied, the color really is beautiful, but it's pretty similar to China Glaze's Secret Periwinkle (although the CG color has a bit more purple to it). Honestly, I wouldn't repurchase this polish. I gave this product a 2 out of 5 because even though the color is beautiful after all the coats are applied, it still doesn't cut it for me. To me, a brand like Essie (one that gets such great reviews) should know better than to put out a crappy polish that isn't opaque. My less than $3 NYC nail polishes preform better than this one! I don't know if I'll try more from this brand or not. I understand all brands have their hits and misses, but it just stinks that the first Essie polish I've tried is a miss for me.
The seller was great and I received the product on time.

Really great color. Lots of people think you should be tanned or have darker sking to wear the more pastel colors, not true. i reverse the norm and wear dark clothing and let the polish pop ! And this does, its sedate but eye catching and it looks very high fashion . This Essie gal loves this one!
