It's very sturdy and cuts great. Good for delimbing, chopping kindling, felling small trees, etc... It's weight sits firmly at the blade end and puts plenty of power in your swings.
Did need a sharpening but, nothing game changing we aren't talking file work just a few passes on a whetstone. This is a quality tool that will most likely outlive me! If you're looking for a hawk or a small camp axe or something for very scary home defense this will fit the bill.
The smaller hatchets have gotten us so far, but with work for this coming winter as intense as it has gotten- it was time for a real hatchet.
We wrapped the handle in paracord and it looks good and feels nice with the rubber give it has under it.
I can't believe how fake or dumb the bad reviews on this hatchet are...
One doofus complained that it wasn't a handpainted collectors hatchet and another goof claimed it broke....
It's one solid forging.... it will bend long long long before it some how snaps.

SHEATH- The sheath is made from ballistic nylon and has a liner inside, it is medium quality and it gets the job done. The belt loop on the back did tear on me after a few uses so I had to tie a little bit of paracord through the top holes in the sheath and I have not had any problems since. For the price I cannot complain as it is still being used today.
BLACK EAGLE AXE- This is a great tool to have around the house for demolition or Bushcraft. I do take this on Hikes with me but I pair it with my Condor Dundee Bowie knife because this axe is heavy for light bush craft work. This axe is made of good steel, holds an edge very well and is easy to sharpen, my favorite thing about this axe is the shock absorbing handle, it is very comfortable/ergonomic, you will only suffer fatigue because of the weight of the axe. The black powder coating is a medium quality as it will eventually start to flake and chip, this is not a big deal if you take care of your tools. I have carried this axe with me on many many adventures and it is a tool everyone can use and have a good time using it. It's estwing so you know it's going to be dependable and passed on. Worth the money.
Absolutely well built, single forged steel with almost no vibration is felt.
Estwing is the only way to go with any hammer/ax tool for hand work for me.
