I bought this adapter hoping to alleviate the issue so I don't have to rely on terrible RF adapter quality for my SNES. I've read on the internet that some TV's don't work with older strange resolutions that old consoles put out. There were some other explanations as to why some new TVs don't work with the SNES.
This device so far (just got it today) works great. The image is clear, the visuals aren't great but this is the SNES we're talking about being upconverted to 1080p on a 55 inch TV.
I've read reviews that said this device wouldn't turn on, flat-out didn't work, or stopped working after a couple weeks. Well, I've only had it for a number of hours but so far so good.
I'll update my review after a month or so if there is any change in functionality of the device. But, other than a slight delay in getting the device set up (there is a "switch" button that presumably switches between the composite video/s-video/HDMI (there's an HDMI in along with the other video inputs) and a button that allows you to switch from 720p to 1080p. There is no on-board display to know which of the three video inputs the device is transmitting, so you just have to press "switch" until you're on the right one.
So far my SNES' video and audio signals are being converted into a digital signal, sent to my audio receiver through HDMI, then to my TV with surprising video clarity through this device. Unless it stops working, I would recommend this device to anyone who has any kind of device that does not have HDMI support.
I'm giving the converter five stars as it's doing what it's suppose to. The unit was easy to setup. There are just two buttons, one switches the output between 1080p & 720p and the other from s-video input and the composite video. There is a wall transformer that powers the converter. Anyway, I'm happy with my purchase.
Editing to add: Pulled this converter out to use this weekend. It's been unused for over a year or so. Does not work any more. I get the power indicator when plugged in, but no other lights and no output. A bit disappointed.
I own a Original XBOX gaming system that only has RCA connections and my TV only has HDMI connections, so after some research I purchased this product to convert the signal so I could play the XBOX gaming console. Well it is a simply connection product and I purchased a New HDMI cable with this order and after making the obvious connections and plugging in the converter and the XBOX it is not recognized by my TV at this point. So until I can get to to work I cannot give it a rating of more than 1 Star.
If anyone can advise me or assist me in troubleshooting this error I would welcome any suggestions.
