Top customer reviews
I experienced no read/write speed loss in any of my 3.0 drives (sandisk extreme 64GB & phantom geforce3). All the ports work and can charge/sync both my android (HTC one) and apple phones (old iphone 3g S and ipod 2nd gen). One thing to note is that my Ipad will not charge at full speed from the specialized charging port if my PC laptop is on, However if the computer is put into sleep mode or turned off, the Ipad will charge very quickly. I could not find this mentioned anywhere in the online product description, but it was mentioned in a small brown paper in the packaging. After testing multiple settings and apps, my Ipad(mini 1st gen) does not lose lose battery on any settings except for video calling in Skype at full brightness when connected to the hub and the computer. This is still a much better result than with my old 2.0 hub or plugging my ipad directly to my computer.
Other things I noted which may help potential buyers:
The hub does not get hot as another reviewer mentioned, even when I connect devices to all four ports and actively use them.
The LEDs are not annoyingly bright and the hub itself looks very professional, which is great because I keep it in my office. There are four blue LEDs and one turns on every time a device is plugged in while a separate red one indicates the power supply is working.
It is quite light weight, but it does not slide on my desk because it comes with four mini rubber legs in the bottom.
It is very small: 9 x 6 x 1.5 cm (3.5 x 2.4 x .6 in).
I purchased the item directly from amazon, no third parties and it has not malfunctioned so far.
I highly recommend this hub to anyone looking for an economical and reliable 3.0 USB hub.
So I got one of these, plugged it in to just 1 of the USB ports on my computer, and put this device itself in the pull-out keyboard tray under my desk. Now when I need to plug in a USB memory stick, I can do so into a USB port that is right at my fingertips. And I now have enough USB ports so I can leave the cords for 2 of my phones/devices permanently attached to ports on this device, which is also very handy.
The low profile of this device made it perfect for keeping in my pull-out keyboard tray.
My only complaint, albeit a tiny one, is that this device is so small and light that it slides around and won't stay put. Maybe some thick double-sided tape on the bottom?
Also, it has connectivity issues. I have keyboard, mouse and bluetooth connected to this device (with external power supply connected), and sometimes all stops working (only charging works but no usb data) until I reboot my computer.
