Update (11/13/14): I don't know if it's just me, but after I updated the drivers the mouse would freeze for about 5 seconds every time the driver loaded upon startup. I guess it's to change the preferences of my mouse to the custom settings that I had adjusted the mouse to. Not a huge deal, just a little annoying. Works perfectly fine after that initial lockup though. Follow-up 15 minutes later... I have thought of something that might fix this problem. After you have set up your mouse to your preference, remove the driver program. Flat out uninstall it. So far the settings have been kept by the mouse's onboard memory and hopefully will continue to stay that way throughout restarts and shut downs... Will update more later.

Update#2 (11/14/14): So installing the driver, tweaking your preferences, then uninstalling the driver program will save your settings. You will also not have to deal with the mouse freezing as the driver program loads up. The driver program, at least the newest version of it, will, for some reason, reset your BUTTON CONFIGURATIONS back to factory defaults after you restart or turn off your computer. I was about to take off another star for this flaw because on top of having the mouse frozen every time I start my computer, I have to go and change the buttons again. It only happens for button configurations, but even if I liked the way original button layout was, the freezing still would have annoyed me greatly down the road. As of this update, my review is considered complete until any more problem arises. I really hope this helps others with the similar problem.

Original Review:

So far so good. Took one star off because of the fact that, for some reason, when using in my USB 3.

This review is for the T-142. First impression was, wow this thing is big and heavy. Then I used it for the first time and this mouse is ridiculously comfortable to use. It glides across the table with precision. The button layout is great since the forward and back buttons on the sides are farther forward than my current mouse. This means no accidental clicking on them. The only thing I don't like is the braided cable. These tend to kink and move around awkwardly.

Now the main fault of this mouse. The awful drivers and software. I had to use the CD since the download off the website wouldn't even launch. I installed it on one PC and it seemed to load fine. I would make changes, click apply, and get an hour glass for a couple minutes. One would assume it was done since the settings now show the changes. After some testing the mouse was not applying them. LED lights were still on, DPI settings the same, etc. I tested this on a second windows 7 PC. The exact same results on them. I'm not going to contact support just to get a simple mouse to work, so its going back.

Straight away, the only issue I have is the mouse wheel squeaks when it's cold. And I haven't found a good way to attempt to lubricate the wheel, so I haven;t been able to fix it. It's an issue that only occasionally comes up. But if you are easily annoyed and compute in quiet areas, this might be a bigger problem.

Now as for the actual mouse itself. The illumination I could take or leave. But the construction of the mouse itself does feel a bit cheap at first. But having gotten used to it, that's a nonissue now. It fits well with my hand, and all of the buttons on it are where I'd want them to be. The mouse wheel is clicky instead of free scrolling. Which I prefer the click anyways. The DPS switch is conveniently placed in case you want to switch sensitivities on the fly. I personally have not had much of a use for this myself.

Another possible annoyance comes from the fact that the color changes based on your sensitivity settings. But you can change the colors with the included software. So again, not a big deal. And I do wish there were more configuration options for the DPS. Finding a happy medium between DPS and speed was a bit tricky with getting windows settings to cooperate with the mouse settings. But this was an $18 mouse. I'm not going to harp too much on it not having enough configuration features.

I've had this for about ten months, and I've had no problems with it, either hardware or software related. It's always functioned as I've expected it to. I haven't missed any inputs, and I've only rarely misclicked the side buttons because of lazy habits. Otherwise it's the best little $18 gaming oriented mouse I've ever tried.

I gave the Etekcity® Scroll T-142 some usage for the week and it's been working like a champ!

I've uploaded some pictures for your viewing pleasure.

On arrival thoughts:
The packaging looks great, just like the gaming mouse packages you see in stores, with a flap that shows the mouse.
First thing that caught my attention is the rubberized top, it feels soft and comfortable.
Etekcity pictures does show the mouse as it is, no gimmicks ( I like that)
The white portion of the mouse has led lights below that allows it to change colors.
Nylon cord, makes the quality that much better. Feels durable..

The page forward/backward (can be macroed) buttons did take a bit to get used to.
I am used to the gaming mouses with two buttons on the left side for page foward and back.
Adaptation to the buttons did not take too long. After a day's use was fine.

LED:
Changed through hitting the DPI button. I was in the options when I tapped it, (Didn't see any options in their program)

Good:
Nice size
Sides has holes.
Scroll wheel works fine, functions well. Does not catch.
Programmable buttons
Multiple profiles
Wired

Improvements:
Not much that I can tell, I will update If I see any.

[Fingertip gripper] [Minor Palm grip]

Overall, it is a great mouse and I love the rubberized left and right clicks.
I was used to the plastic clicks.

Hope this is helpful to ya! If not, leme know what ya need to know.
