“I feel so very blessed. James has helped me so much over the last few months; it will be soon be a year since I first met him. In that time, we have both fallen in love so deeply. I’ve overcome some terrible obstacles and traumas from my former life with Lewis, the bastard, and finally married just over three weeks ago.” It is the love that James shows Alex to heal her from her past. I guess we should all be so lucky to find this kind of love, but all good things must come to an end, right?!?!
It is just past the honeymoon stage without sacrificing their fabulous sex lives we’ve all become accustomed to when James’s mother, Stella comes into play. We get to hear her side of things as to why she left James and his father, Lucca back when James was just a baby. She returns to have a relationship with James or so she says, but James isn’t hearing any of it. “I want nothing to do with that, that woman. You forget Alex, I know the stories, the things my dad used to say, the things I overheard my dad and Roberto talking about, about her. She’s a bitch Alex, a bitch of the first order with some evil bastards as friends.” Stella shows her true colors and proceeds to tell Alex stories of her past which leaves Alex completely beside herself with horror. And then Stella does the unthinkable to her own flesh and blood that leaves the family members holding onto hope for the life of one of their own. “I want you more than anyone, I really don’t think I could have survived if they’d hurt you more, if they’d have…”
All you lovers of the first two Alexandra Drake books, THIS.IS.A.MUST.READ.
With Alex's ex finally completely out of the way Alex and James have started their lives as a married couple. Coming back from their honeymoon the unexpected happens and now it's Jame's past causes quite the commotion for them this time around. As the two are trying to settle into their lives and sort out how to separate themselves from their businesses so they can enjoy being together and eating lots and lots of Strawberries someone James thought was long gone come in and causes a stir.
Seeing Alex and James never waver about their love for each other and support each other even through the toughest times you truly see how much devotion they have to one another is just too sweet. Even when times get tough they have learned how to deal with things as a couple and never leave the other to figure things out on their own.
Seeing the end of the series was bittersweet. We've seen them go through so much and have grown so much together. It's been interesting learning more about their pasts and family histories throughout each story and see how they all take care of each other. Loved seeing them finally get their happily ever after even if it took some heartache to get them there.
