This book was another one of those moments when I asked myself why I left this sitting so long unread on my kindle - in the words of Julie Roberts in Pretty Woman 'Big mistake. Big. Huge.'
Reading this was like opening the windows on a fine Spring day and inhaling that lovely, sweet fresh air. It truly was a breath of fresh words <-- yep I just made that up :-)
Natasha (Tash) walks into the flat she shares with her boyfriend to find him boning some random chick on the new sofa - the cheek of it! Well her soon to be ex-boyfriend's bum cheeks were on it anyway.
After throwing caution to the wind she decides to impulsively move from the UK to Canada. She is not alone however, she takes her fabulously gay best friend Tink with her. These two are absolutely freaking hilarious together. Neither of them seem to have any sort of filter on their mouths and I'm so glad of that, everything they think is verbalized.
After a couple of chance encounters with the moody, tortured looking Tudor North - a very hot and famous Hollywood star - an unlikely friendship develops between them. That is after he witnesses Tash doing the 'slut drop' dance move and being taken out by her luck lustre rolling skating skills. Tash is completely going all lady boner over this guy.
'I shuffled on the suddenly hot seat, and pulled my libido back from sneaking up his trouser leg.' - Tash
All is not as it seems with this man and to be honest, Natasha is done with guys who want to play games with her. She knows her worth now and will not accept anything less than she deserves. If this guy is interested in her then he needs to step up to the plate or go home.
What is it with him? I am addicted. I, Natasha Munro, am a Tudaholic. I constantly think of him, being with him, him wanting me. No matter what he does to me, I cave like a junkie to a drug.' - Tash
Whilst all this is going on, her bestie Tink has his own little fairy tale love story simmering away. Maybe moving to Canada was the best idea that Tink and Tash have ever come up with.
There are so many hilarious moments in this book, lots of sweet romance and there is also a bit of the bad stuff too. I found this so entertaining and heaps of fun. Loved. This.
Warning: Do not read this on a full bladder cos you will have some serious leakage when you are busting your gut with laughter. You have been warned.
I have read 4 of her books and I love that she has so much content in her books. Her writing literally pulls into your heart strings. I'm looking forward to more of her books. Keep 'em coming Tillie!!
My best friend read this book and told me it was a 'must read', when she tells me that, and knowing my addiction to Tillie's books, I knew I had to jump in feet first and marvel in all that is Tillie Cole's brilliant mind.
This book was witty, sarcastic, heartfelt, romantic, simplistic in the best of ways, and basically perfect- (And I don't say that lightly.)
The 'Friggin Fantastic Fairy' otherwise known as John Aka TINK is the best flamboyantly gay bloke I've ever had the pleasure to intimately know in any book. He was so funny I found my self splitting in two from laughing, thanks to his dramatic flare.
Tudor, the hunk in this book was sexy, sweet and very easy to love. He gave me the 'feels' a whole bunch of times that I can barely count. Which is the sign of a fantastically written book.
Overall I can't think of one part of this book that I didn't love.(which is rare.)
The writing was amazing, even the European/English vernacular and writing. It was very true to the story. The sex, while it was minimal, did highlight the story in a way that was both sweet and provocative. Most of the time I prefer a book to be heavier on the sex because that's what I enjoy. But in this case I felt it was better suited to be written as is. Just enough to make you feel warm and fuzzy, and a little bit hot, at the same time keeping with the flow of the brilliant story.
In all sense of the word this book was Simple Romance. It wasn't over the top, or some drama filled craziness. It did have it's moments. But I love the simplicity of boy meets girl, he falls for her, they court in their own way and they move forward..... take that and add a bunch of sass, sharp wit, and you have this book. Clever... and witty perfection till the very last page.
