I’m a rather reclusive writer myself, so falling in love with brooding yet charismatic Ethan was easy for me. His love for his super-adorable little daughter Daisy made him believable and even more attractive. And what a contrast sassy nurse Leah was to him, yet they fit together like two (or rather, three) pieces of an intricate puzzle. Often in books, you find the heroine suffering because of her ex-boyfriend or ex-husband, but in this novel, it’s different. And let me tell you, I hated Anna with a vengeance!
I wouldn’t say the story was an easy or fast-paced read, but it was filled with emotions and authentic characters, and once again the setting came alive too. The story flows well and was entertaining as well as thought-provoking.
At the beginning of the book, Ethan sums his situation up quite succinctly: “Holy Mother of God, his messed-up life had just gotten ten times worse.” There’s a noticeable shift towards the middle of the book when he says: “You’re not making my life harder, Leah. You’re just scaring the hell out of me.” It’s all the more rewarding to see how much things have changed by the end of the story: “I want you, Leah. I want you in my life. I want you in Daisy’s life.”
Leah is a nurse who finds a little girl alone on the beach. She takes her home to find her dad is none other than Ethan James, a famous writer and recluse. Ethan is hurt and she discovers he was attacked by his ex-wife. She immediately tends to his wounds and the more time she spends with him and his daughter, Daisy, the more she wants to be in their lives. Ethan tries to push Leah away from fear of the people his ex is involved with. He doesn't want Leah caught in the cross-hairs but that proves more difficult than he thought.
I really enjoyed this story. I love a good romantic suspense and this was very suspenseful at times. I couldn't put this book down and I didn't want it to end. I was hooked from the very beginning. The fact that Daisy was in danger made me want to know what would happen even more. This is a definite must read!
Ethan James has closed himself and his daughter from the world. He values his privacy. So when sassy nurse Leah Dixon meanders into his life with an outrageous tale, his instincts set in and he’ll do whatever it takes to protect his daughter but who will protect him from his growing attraction towards the irresistible nurse?
Best selling author Ethan James is enjoying his life as a bit of a recluse as he pumps out his next thriller in Templeton Cove, but his daughter has other ideas when she brings home a visitor! ER nurse Leah Dixon is ready to give this child’s father a piece of her mind .. then she realizes who he is and winds up smack dab in the middle of chaos!
When danger surrounds this father and daughter, Leah can’t walk away without doing all that she can to make sure they stay safe … especially that little girl! Will Ethan be able to push Leah away so she won’t be caught up in this mess … or will the attraction they feel draw her in even closer?
