I needed an inexpensive, reliable, sturdy, docking station that could power my laptops (Dell and HP). This one worked right out of the box. I plugged my Dell power adapter with its USB type C plug into the DockteckExpand docking station. Almost instantly my external monitor, keyboard, mouse and headset came to life and I could see the little plug on my battery icon showing that my laptop was charging. One thing I love about this is the size, it’s tiny, and still allows me to install an HDMI cable, network cable, add some micro SD or SD cards and has two regular usb 3 device ports. Having two of the full size usb ports really helped, because one of my laptops only has one, so I can easily plug in my older keyboard and mouse instead of having to choose whether or not to have a headset.
I’ve only had it for a few days, and it’s worked without a problem BUT it does get warm to the touch. I noticed when I reboot my dell laptop, it throws an error saying that it needs 60 watts and is only getting 55. When this happens, I unplug the dock to boot before plugging in the docking station, this works fine. Because of this and the heat, I’ll use it for travel, as it fits perfectly in my backpack and has plenty of power to get me through several hours of work.
