That's why I was very pleased to come across this text. The authors actually take the time to lay out a moral theory of business ethics that provides an excellent foundation for the subject. This is a brief text (108 pages), which makes it an ideal introduction to the subject of business ethics. After that, there is plenty of time to deal with case studies. But having read Engelland and Eshee's book first, a student would have some means of applying moral theory to the specific cases they are studying in business ethics.
I'd highly recommend this book for anyone seeking to give students or employees an overview of moral theory as applied to business. It's extremely clear, concise, and well-written.
The authors have been, in a way, lifelong scholars of ethics, corporate social responsibility, and business strategy. Their style is clear, yet concise. The ideas in the book are organized brilliantly. If you are a professor of business, a student or a practicing businessperson; I would highly recommend this book to you.
