Style: 4 stars - clear, concise, easy to read
Value: 0.5 stars - ridiculously overpriced for what it is
I read this as part of the required reading for a class. It's fairly well written for a document of its type (ethical standards). Other reviewers have stated their belief that every nurse should have a copy. I can't say I disagree in principle. Every nurse should, at a minimum, read it since the ANA is one of the established voices of the profession. The issue I have with it is the price. It's a 27 page BOOKLET (8.7 x 5.8 inches) for crying out loud. If you need to read this, go to the ANA website and you can read it there for free. You can't print it, though - which is the reason I was looking for a paper copy, but not for over a dollar a page.
I was given this book to review and I was not impressed at all. I am not going to buy it. Like many people stated in previous reviews it is simply a booklet with straightforward 9 provisions listed. It is 37 pages before "Afterward" & "Glossary" sections. This is super 'quick & dirty' POCKET guide to keep in the car or your locker. When I was in grad school a few years ago, I happened to purchase the 2010 version at the time (it was a burgundy/ brown color). I saw it's listed for $10 right now. I thought the 2010 version was superb and fairly comprehensive. I think it's by far better than than the newer version. This 2010 version has 166 pages before the "Afterward" and "Index" sections.
The 2010 version consists of two parts. Part One goes into "History of each provision", "Thinking beyond the provision", "Application of the provision", and at the end, offers 3-5 case scenarios per each provision to practice learned application and for discussion in the class. Part Two of the book lists all 9 provisions again, but as Interpretive statements (which is what the aforementioned new booklet (2015) contains). Hope this helps.
