Format: Paperback
A fairly comprehensive presentation of Ethiopian churchical art. The pictures are very well presented, and sufficiently explained.

The book covers major artistic styles of Ethiopian Orthodox paintings, such as the Lasta school initiated during the heyday of the Zagwe dynasty and the figurative painters of the Ewastotewan style, as well as the influence of Italian styles during the 16-17th century in Gondar. I was also please to see a well written description of more obscure schools of eclesiastical Ethiopian art, which helps to reveal it as more than a generic church art form to show the more detail geographical and historical periods, and their respective symbolism.
