You'll be heard on your ETR-100 trumpet whether you're performing on stage or with your marching band thanks to the Etude trumpet's red brass lead pipe—crafted for easy tone production and great projection. The Etude ETR-100 Trumpet is built to be securely handled by small or inexperienced hands with a first-valve thumb saddle and an adjustable third valve finger ring. These enhancements also make the Etude ETR-100 more comfortable to hold, allowing novice performers to pay more attention to intonation. I admit it: I am cynical about cheap trumpets. In fact, I spent days looking at used trumpets and cornets all over the place! All of them were either worn out banged up junk that only a sucker would buy, or absurdly overpriced instruments that only a dumber sucker would buy.
Sooo...after reading ALL the reviews kindly left here by others who have purchased an Etude trumpet, I decided to take a chance on getting one myself. All I had to lose was return shipping charges, right?
What a pleasant surprise! I know a little about horns, having owned a Silver Sonic cornet "back in the days", so give my opinion a little weight when I tell you that.....this is a GREAT horn, and would be a good buy at TWICE the price I paid! The quality of construction and materials rates right up there with horns costing several times more, and the sound of this horn is good enough to make me think I'm better at playing it than I really am!
Sure, there were a couple of small problems with my horn, but I solved them easily enough. First, the valves were sticky. I cured that by removing them (one at a time as they aren't marked), completely wiping all the original valve oil off everything and applying a SMALL amount (one or two drops carefully spread around each valve) of Denis Wick valve oil with PTFE (teflon). It's the best valve oil on the planet, thinner and more slippery than what Etude used.
Second, the screw that holds the third slide finger ring was missing. I replaced it with a 4mm X .07 set screw, 5mm in length. It doesn't show, and cost me all of 26 cents. Later (as often), I found the screw where it had fallen out while unpacking the trumpet.
Third....well, there really isn't really much of a third to mention. The polishing cloth that came with the trumpet shed more than my cat.

I find that this trumpet is affordable and plays well. It is a good beginner trumpet or in my case a nice trumpet for a musician who loves to play trumpet on the side but not as a main instrument, I would reccommend to any student level child or beginner trumpet, I have played trumpet for 9 years and this is a easy to play trumpet with good sound and just a good first level instrument. The delivery was fast and surprisingly came even earlier then expected.

I (a beginner at the trumpet) am impressed with the quality of the Etude ETR-100 trumpet. All slides and valves moved freely. The instrument looks and sounds good. The included 7c mouthpiece seemed almost equal to the Bach 7c I already had. The case could be better. Be aware that the main tuning slide MUST be completely pushed in for the case to close properly, don't force it! Also, there is basically no padding between the case and the bell of the trumpet. This could lead to a damaged instrument down the road. Not a problem for me (adult) but could be for a child. Overall a good value.

I was looking to purchase a trumpet for son for band practice. The school rental program only had an option for a Yamaha trumpet which seemed excessive for a student not required to practice during the week and 1 class per week. We rented the Yamaha for the promotional period and some overlap time in which my son was able to use both. I am not a musician so I was going with recommendations and reviews made on various web sites and music supplier web sites which were also recommended (WW&B).
I did notice that negative reviews tended to be from people just against Chinese models in general or knew less than I did about instruments. There are going to be some duds I am sure but this should be immediately recognizable.
So immediately opened and oiled up the valves as recommended. They did stick prior to being oiled, then they were as i would have expected after oiling, very nice. The trumpet is beautiful - to me - but the test would be after the first practice. I quickly asked how it went after I got home from work and was told that it was easier to get a note out of than the Yamaha and he liked it.
.....then he told me one of his friends knocked it over and there are two small dents in the bell.
They will not effect the sound, but at least it did not happen to the $800 Yamaha.
That is good enough for me for now. He plays the piano so I am assuming he knows how the notes are to sound.
To be continued...

Continued 10/2014;
So I unfortunately cannot state one way or another whether or not this is good trumpet for its sound. My son does not or will not practice with it outside of the 45 minutes at band practice once a week so he has not become proficient. I do clean it occasionally outside of him cleaning it so I can attest the valves still move very nicely when you oil them.
It is still a nice looking and nice feeling trumpet. Sorry I could not be of more help and hopefully have not misled anyone.

Well, I've had an interesting experience with this purchase...

TRUMPET #1...
The trumpet relatively quickly after the order was placed - about a week. (I eventually requested an exchange, which I'll explain.)

Case - Overall, decent for this price point. It was made from rugged, black plastic with black lining. There was light-duty, silver metal trim and a black plastic handle. The padding between the bell and the edge of the case was a bit light for my liking, only around 1/4 inch. Not an immediate problem, but questionable protection for the bell if the case gets dropped or kicked.

Trumpet - it was surprisingly nicer than expected, with one exception - the brass plating along a long section of tubing just beyond the mouthpiece was visibly lighter and semi-transparent compared to the rest of the instrument. Cosmetic, but also something you can easily see from a few feet away. Otherwise, the valves operated nicely, the trumpet had a decent heft to it for a $100 instrument, and all the slides worked well. The tone of the trumpet was better than I expected.

I would have been very happy with everything, if not for the brass plating issue. But, we couldn't live with the cladding on the trumpet so we contacted the seller. They were very cooperative and gave us a 30-day return label without hassle. I ordered a new trumpet and had it shipped, since my son needed it quickly and we couldn't wait for the exchange process.

TRUMPET #2...
Again, arrived about a week later. IT WAS A DIFFERENT SYTLE CASE AND TRUMPET - and, not in a good way.

Case - This case was completely black, even the trim. The plastic was lighter and the trim appeared to be plastic as well.
