Editorial Reviews

While I suffered through the twists and turns and roller coaster of emotions through this second installment of the Darkness series, I loved every minute of reading every page from Cassia's wonderfully twisted mind. That being said, I find this series as well written as one of the ultimate authors and I believe this will hit the best seller lists. The characters are brilliant!  - LLEP Book Blog
Evanesce is cements Cassia Brightmore into the role of Queen of the Effedd Up and Dark Thrillers. This is the kind of read where NO ONE is safe from the evil lurking in the shadows. While Malevolent was deliciously dark, Evanesce takes it one step further into the scale of "Holy shit, I'm hearing things in the house" kind of scared. - Saints & Sinners Books

I was lucky to get a chance to read this book before it is released. If you had the chance to read Cassia Brightmore’s first book, Malevolent then you know to expect the unexpected and not get attached to characters. She does not disappoint with this book, Evanescence.

This book is set in Norton Springs, Texas and strange things are happening. Women and children are being kidnapped with no leads. Theo(who I love and will probably never read another book by this author, if she kills him off...just kidding I will still read but send threatening messages through Facebook) makes a call to his old friend sexy Sheriff Brady.

Theo, Brady, and Gabe start to investigate the disappearances and with the help of a contact from his days in NY, they figured out that it is part of the Black Market. When no leads are able to be traced, Brady goes back home but still runs some hunches. Back in Texas, Gabe and his long time love Nora, try to get back to who they once were before he left for two years. They get engaged and find out that they are expecting.

This book will leave you emotionally drained from the tears, getting your hopes up and figuring out ways to track this author down. Cassia’s twisted mind is one that you will love and she will keep you guessing because this chick had no clue what was going to happen. The ending will leave you yelling, “WTF! NO! NO! NO! WHY? WHAT? NO!”

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys being turned upside down emotionally and love hot sexy men who love protecting their women. This has it all tears, suspense, love and hot guys.

After reading book one, "Malevolent," the author had contacted me to thank me for my honest review of "Malevolent," and asked that I not write her off. So respectful of my review, I was honored to read her latest novel, "Evanesce" in the "Darkness" series. As such, a huge thank you to Cassia Brightmore for advancing me a free copy of his novel in exchange for my honest review.

"Evanesce," the story about women being kidnapped and their children taken from them was a much better and more intriguing story than what I read in book one. Well-written and fully developed with a very likeable heroine. I consider Brooke to be one of the protagonists of the story as she had such a huge presence throughout the novel. I loved everything about her, especially how strong she was, never giving up and fighting every chance she got. She had such determination that you can’t help but root for her to escape. I was really disappointed that she didn’t escape because I felt she had gone thru so much and deserved a HEA with her baby. I also thought the Marcus was a great evil character, as was Milo.

The story of Nora and Gabe reuniting after Gabe disappeared for two years is front and center here. So let me begin with Gabe. His excuse for disappearing for two years was ridiculous and pathetic and it didn’t make sense. At one point he says that “he couldn’t bear the thought of tying her down to him, if he was having doubts coupled with a desire to travel and see the world.” Next he says that “Nora was, without a doubt, the love of his life.” If he thought she was the love of his life, why leave the way he did? Without a word? Yes, cowardly and he admits it.

OMFG I'm so book hungover this book has left me at a loss for words it's that good. if you like a book that is intense gritty and dark then look no further than this outstanding book. It has some sensitive issues through out the book so be prepared. It also has some really hot scenes between the main characters Gabe and Nora. If you've read Malevolent then you have some idea of cassia style of writing and know that cassia is an extremely gifted and evil twisted genius. You will fall in love with the characters and be taken on an emotional rollercoaster ride and just when you think you have everything worked out you will be totally side swiped. I don't know whether I want to hug cassia for her brilliance or scream at her because oh my God the ending has completely knocked me for six I totally did not see it coming but holy hell what an ending. I can not wait to see to where this series is going to go next .

Ii didn't think Cassowaries could top her first book in this series, but guess what? She had me in a tail spin by the time I was finished. This is a very dark read so if you have issues of any kind you may not want to read this. I just got it this morning and I just could not put it down until the end. No spoilers from me but I will tell you it deals in black market babies. The head of this is the most evil demon that has to come straight from hell. The men who work for him are the lowest form of life. This small town has women and infants start missing. Just wait, your heart will beat out of your chest, you will cry for the women used to carry a child only to have them ripped from them as soon as they are born. When you think it's going to be ok she sends you into the darkness again! My head is so messed up trying to process everything right now I think I will have a melt down waiting for her next book.
