Evelyn Tidman was born and brought up in London, England in the 1950s by parents who were not only well-read but also interested in history. While still at school, she discovered a passion for writing. College, an office job, marriage, a move to Norfolk, and four children interrupted her literary efforts, but in 2012 she published her first book, Gentleman of Fortune, quickly followed by One Small Candle. For the King, based on the true story of the siege of King's Lynn in the English Civil War, was published at the end of 1914 and was the beginning the Adventures of Roger L'Estrange series. Rebellion takes up the story where For the King left off. A third book in the series is under way.
Always interested in history, and largely self-taught, Evelyn is fascinated by the minutiae of people’s lives from the past. She enjoys historical research and bringing people from the past back to life. When she is not writing or researching, she enjoys walking near her home in Norfolk with her husband and cocker spaniel.
