The stroller: Like other reviewers, the stroller totally collapsed on us the first time we used it shopping. Luckily, my (teenage) daughter was pushing it and my husband was walking next to her and caught the car seat as it flipped over. Pretty sure it traumatized my daughter but the baby was safe - car seats are designed to keep them safe. We completely removed everything, pulled the stroller up hard, and locked it while pushing the bottom bar with our foot, and then tried it really hard a few times - it wasn't going anywhere. So now we just do that before we put the car seat in it. It's not that it comes unlocked once it's locked. It does not. The problem is that it makes a locking *sound* before it's locked. Sometimes you have to pull extra hard. But not once has it collapsed after we've tested it and found it was secure, and we use it all the time at Six Flags up and down hills.
A negative for the stroller and car seat being used together - the darn canopies don't meet, so there's about an inch gap. This is great for peeking in on the baby but sucks because that blip of light wakes him up and the sun gets in his face as we're walking.
I would definitely buy it again - I got it on Prime Day for like $80 and it was a great investment if you don't mind double checking that it's secure. I fully trust my baby's safety with our judgement combined with this system.
I was a little bit worried about buying it because of the reviews that said the cover didn't come forward very far on the top and my biggest concern was the reviews that said it didn't make a clicking sound when you hooked it to the stroller.
On the first few uses, it did not make a clicking sound but we could test that it was in securely by pulling on it making sure it didn't move. I did have to physically push it into place by squatting over and making sure it was in. But after a few uses I think it just needed to be broken in and now it clicks in every time with no problems.
Yes, the visor on the top isn't very deep but it hasn't been much of a problem because we use a car seat cover anyway.
The only other thing I don't like about it is that the buttons to move the handle forward and back are on the sides. The old car seats used to have the button on the top in the middle so you could do it one-handed but you have to use both hands. Sometimes it's a struggle to flip that in the car when I can't reach both. I've trained my four-year-old to do one side while I do the other.
Overall, I love this car seat and I love the strap on the bottom you can use to tighten it without having to readjust the back of the car seat as the baby grows.
I get compliments on how cute the car seat is too.
The car seat is fine as far as getting the baby in and out of the seat. It has the standard sort of buckle in and out with adjustable straps. Nothing special. The fun happens when you try to get the darned thing out of the car. The seat has not one, but two matches that have to be loosened in order to get it out of the base. The parts are cheap so my has a tendency to stick. There is nothing like fighting with a car seat in the middle of a parking lot with a diaper back falling off your arm and a baby screaming at you with two other kids demanding your attention and asking why you are swearing at the car seat. Not my finest hour. That said, the handle has a simple design, so it fits easily into the crook of your elbow. It don’t care for the ones that have a hand holder because loaded car seats are too heavy to carry that way. The seat does fit easily into grocery carts and such, so that’s a plus.
The stroller is another matter entirely. In order to open or close it, there is this weird slide and press mechanism. It sticks. It is very hard to open it and get the thing upright. Once you unlock it you have to pick it with your foot to fully extend it and open it and then it is a trick to get it to stay locked once open. There is nothing fun about trying to put your car seat into s stroller and the stroller completely collapse on you. I prefer the Grace brand (I had one with my daughter). It had a simple button and twist that easily opened and closed the stroller making it easy to load and unload into the car. Please. Don’t do this to yourself. Spend a little extra money and get the Graco. This is the only thing I ever regretted buying in Amazon.
