They aren’t the only ones from Andvell that have shown up in his world. Raul, the evil sorcerer has been living without his powers in Montreal since Jeff and Cassie came back. Cassie, Jeff, Jayden, and Brady team up to find Raul. During their search they all end up back in Andvell, where they have to once again take on Raul.
I was pleased to find I enjoyed Eventide, the second book in the Meratis Trilogy by Krista Walsh, as much, if not more than, the first book. I love the idea of an author being sucked into a world of their own creation.
The characters Krista has created are multi-faceted and rich. Watching them stumble, learn, and evolve is as interesting for me, as it seems to be for Jeff. I also love watching Jeff grow as a person, and become more than just an author. The settings and the battles in this book are also beautifully described and make me wish I could someday find myself inside of one of my stories.
This book was a welcome distraction in my busy life that I couldn’t put down. I am excited to see what Jeff and his characters are put through, and where they go, in the final book of the trilogy.
Also huge points to the writer for not creating some grant power for him or giving him the ability to fight like a warrior born ten minutes into finding himself in another reality. The supporting cast was great too, especially Maggie. I highly look forward to digging into book two.
Unfortunately, I did find the plots to be predictable, the writing/craft in need of improvement and the need of a proofreader all took away from the enjoyment of the novel. Also, the final 2 or 3 chapters were anticlimactic and rushed.
I will probably finish the trilogy simply because I'd love to see more of the twins and their friends and Venn.
What I will say is that the characters revealed so much more of themselves. The depth and courage shown the author gave them makes me speechless. I did not think I would become more attached to these characters but I certainly did. I did not want to put the book down and even did a 24 hour stent. The rollercoaster ride was full of twists and turns that you just did not want to get off.
I am grateful for the places I have that lets me know about book specials fore without them I would most likely not know about books such like this series and would miss out on this author's awesome talent.
