Some are funny, some are chatty, some are very sad, particularly as he writes about the death of his long-time companion, Tony Forwood. He also talks about his decisions to take on roles in some very "out there" films such as The Night Porter and Death and Venice.
Bogarde worked with directors like Visconti, Cavani, Joseph Losey, starred in "The Doctor" series, and played a homosexual in "Victim," which changed the course of his career. He writes lively letters about his experiences, filled with humor and sarcasm -- you can hear his voice in his words.
it is illuminating and draws you in especially if you're interested in Dirk Bogarde. However, THE SPINE IS SO FRAGILE, I'm afraid to open the book wide lest the spine break apart and I'll end up with multiple portions of the book.
WHY CARE SO LITTLE ABOUT THE READING AUDIENCE BY PUTTING SO LITTLE EFFORT IN PRODUCTION OF THIS BOOK? -- I've given only one star for this disregard.
