Defend Faydwer against acts of vengeance from enemies old and new! The clockwork armies of the evil gnomish necromancer Meldrath the Malignant gather in the Steamfront Mountains, awaiting his order to invade the kingdom of Ak'Anon. The launch of his great air fortress Mechanotus has exposed new paths into the nearby Loping Plains, home to the soul-eating wereorcs of Bloodmoon Keep. Meanwhile, an ancient menace stirs deep in the Dragonscale Hills, where the prismatic dragon Kerafyrm the Awakened plots the destruction of all Norrath. EverQuest Secrets of Faydwer is the fourteenth expansion to the genre-defining series. Characters can now advance up to level 80 as they battle to triumph over the rising menace. Along the way, discover thousands of new items, including Heroic Items that push abilities to new heights. Secrets of Faydwer also includes dynamic high level raid content, new spells, and new Advancement Abilities to rejuvenate even the most hardened warrior. 330+ New spells. 170+ Alternate Advancement Abilities with various ranks each. 30+ New NPCs. Some interesting changes were put in for everyone in the game at the same time of the expansion release, including a jewelrycraft revamp, more cultural armors/symbols (and a change to how you make them), and more alchemy potions for higher levels. Even research had its official change, with all the spells now being crafted using the old level 61+ spell methods (systematic spell research). These changes have made some tradeskilling quite a lot easier to achieve levels in, and makes playtime more diverse for everyone.
I would recommended this expansion to any current players or old players considering returning to the game. Even if you've only considered playing EverQuest but never tried it out before, now is a good time! The development team is finally putting effort into making gametime more enjoyable, and it's worth it to check this out. :)
getting EXP in everquest to level your toon's is to much of a waste of time . So if you are a new player or don't have a
lot of time to waste you may want to look at some other games. I would say getting to level 50 is not to bad but after that
things go down hill very fast and slow going after that drop rate of Item's is mostly a joke I hope you have a few days to waste.
After installing every Everquest expansion made to date, I was pleasantly surprised- several of the old world zones have been tweaked to provide a better play experience- zones designed for 10 year old technology tend to get quite stale. Many, many other elements have been added to the game since it has launched- I do admit, I was a little overwhelmed at first, but once you get the hang of it all, you will be amazed.
The reason I originally quit Everquest was because it was not casual player friendly- you will find that all of the enhancements that the newer expansions have added other options for players that wish to live the solo life. No more waiting for a group for a crowded, cramped dungeon- you can find your own adventures on your own time.
I have not experienced any of the high end content of this expansion; however for new or returning players, I can assure you that this is still a great game and it is definitely owed a try. Try it out- you have a free month!
The reason I gave the game 4 stars is because the developers seem to have focused a lot on the new zones- while I appreciate that they have revamped some of the older zones such as Freeport, the Commonlands, etc, I feel that they definitely should revamp ALL of the original zones to match the newer zones in art style. The textures in the old world are so compressed and grainy, it makes it very difficult to see what you are doing when playing in the zones with a high resolution monitor + video card.
EQ has many improvements for people who like to solo and run quick quests. This game is still the king of high end raid content, with more to do than most people will ever have time to experience.
While the graphics do not push the envelope with the pixels per square inch, this game has a tremendous variety of uniquely stunning artistic styles.
The Alternate Advancement points and wide range levels for grouping, provide character improvement for those willing to spend more time playing their toon, while still enabling friends to play together, even when some of the friends play far fewer hours per week.

An adventure..For young and old..It's just an expansion..Not the entire game.
