First Ascent of Everest Without Oxygen

This book by Peter Habeler is the first hand account of the first ascent of Everest without supplemental oxygen by Peter Habeler and Reinhold Messner. Indeed an impossible victory. This book becomes particularly relevant today because we are going through a time when climbing Everest has become a circus, with tourists without the basic knowledge of how to put a crampon on are successfully summiting or just dying because they discover at 8000 meters that Everest is not exactly a stroll in the park.
Anyone contemplating climbing an 8K peak by paying $$ to the Nepal tourism ministry and Jumaring on fixed ropes laid by Sherpas should first this book and then decide whether they want to be another circus clown.
