Editorial Reviews

Review

Night Star jumps right into high action and never slows down, not even after the last page. Noel's writing is intense and vivid, pulling readers into the depths of her imagination.” ―Teen Reads on the Immortals series

“The true magic of the story is not so much in the plot and the amazing characters within it. These novels leave the reader feeling refreshed and like they learned something. Without being preachy, without sounding like a self-help book, Noël touches on the acceptance of death, the dangers of anger, and, once again, the power of positive thinking and . . . the message comes through loud and clear--it's all about acceptance and facing life in a positive way. If you haven't bought this yet, go get it right away!” ―Examiner.com on the Immortals series

“Noel's novel is absolutely amazing! Fans of her Immortals series will not be disappointed--Ever and Damen's love is challenged like never before, and the story ends with a big, satisfying twist that will have readers begging for more. This long awaited installment is incredible.” ―Romantic Times (Top Pick) on the Immortals series

“It is the mark of a daring writer to defy expectations and Alyson Noel does that to the power of ten in Blue Moon. I guarantee you will have no idea what's coming in the second book of the series while Alyson Noel surprises you with a big, fat twist and leaves you wanting more, more, more.” ―The Book Chick on the Immortals series

“A mesmerizing tale of teenage angst, love and sacrifice with plenty of crossover appeal…The startling but satisfying ending shows that Noël knows how to keep her audience hooked. Ever's supernatural struggles are a captivating metaphor for teenage fears about love, relationships and growing up.” ―Publishers Weekly (Starred Review) on the Immortals series

Blue Moon was incredible. If you thought Evermore was full of suspense and unknowns, just wait until you read Blue Moon . . . The plot was insane, and I mean that in a good way. Noel took this novel in a direction I was never expecting, resulting in an emotional roller coaster ride that I never wanted to end. Fabulous.” ―The Story Siren on the Immortals series

“The YA paranormal genre has a flawless diamond among the gems with Blue Moon. I was moved to tears by a couple of scenes, especially near the end. Ms. Noel doesn't back away from emotion, instead she has the ability to reach into your chest and twist your heart.” ―Night Owl Romance on the Immortals series

“One of the best books I've read this year . . . With immortal lovers, trustworthy friends, betraying fortune tellers, and freaky identical twins, what more could you ask for? Blue Moon has me begging for Shadowland! I can't wait for the next in the series.” ―The YA Book Blogger on the Immortals series

“Mystery + romance + supernatural + drama = definite appeal to teens.” ―Orange Coast Magazine on the Immortals series

“The Immortals Series is so unique; it's like a breath of fresh air…Noel knows how to pull you into her world with beautiful imagery and mesmerizing words. Blue Moon is a page turner that will keep you reading until the last page. Just when you think you have the plot figured out, Alyson throws in another twist making it impossible to put this book down.” ―5 stars! Fantastic Book Reviews on the Immortals series

Evermore will thrill many teen fantasy-suspense readers, especially fans of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series ... Noël creates a cast of recognizably diverse teens in a realistic high-school setting, along with just the right tension to make Ever's discovery of her own immortality--should she choose it--exciting and credible.” ―Booklist on the Immortals series

“Beautiful main characters, tense budding romance, a dark secret, mysterious immortals―what more could you ask from this modern gothic romance?” ―Justine Magazine on the Immortals series

“When I got a copy of Evermore, I sat down to read it, intending to only read a chapter or two. Instead, I blazed through the first hundred pages before I knew it...and then I didn't want to put the book down. Except I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer. So I picked it up the next morning and finished it. Now I can't wait till July for the second book to see what happens next.” ―Blog Critics Magazine on the Immortals series

“Get ready for a wild ride that is filled with twisting paths and mystery, love and fantasy. . . The writing style, story, and characters are a bit like Meyer and Marr's popular books, but written with a new twist and voice. And after reading the book, you too will probably want your own Damen, even if it means making the ultimate sacrifice.” ―5/5 stars! The Book Queen on the Immortals series

“Readers who enjoy the works of PC Cast and Stephenie Meyer will love this outstanding paranormal teen-lit thriller.” ―Midwest Book Review on the Immortals series

“I found myself unwilling to put the book down, even though I had to at some points, because I wanted to know what was going to happen…Ever was so real and her emotions were so believable that it was a little creepy. It's like Alyson Noël is actually a grieving, lovestruck teenager. She got Ever completely perfect. And by perfect, I mean delightfully flawed and deep.” ―The Frenetic Reader on the Immortals series

Evermore is a wonderful book that I believe would be a lovely addition to any library . . .Definitely a book that fans of Stephenie Meyer and Melissa Marr should add to their collections. Definitely engaging and will catch your attention the minute you open to the first page!” ―Mind of a Bibliophile on the Immortals series

“Alyson Noël creates a great picture of each and every character in the book. I am a fan of the Twilight series and I recommend this book to those who like the series as well. It is a very quick read, with all the interesting twist and turns.” ―Flamingnet Book Reviews on the Immortals series

“I loved this book. It really keeps your attention though out the story, because the puzzle gets pieced together bit by bit, but you don't know exactly what happened until the end. The only thing that disappoints me is that the second book won't be published for a while. I would definitely recommend this to my friends.” ―Portsmouth Teen Book Review on the Immortals series

“This is the first installment of The Immortals series. Ms. Noël pens a well-detailed story that makes it easy for the reader to visualize both the characters and the world around them. Evermore has a familiar theme that attracts readers, but inside this book you'll find that the author has added some unique details that sets it apart.” ―Darque Reviews on the Immortals series

Evermore's suspense, eerie mystery, and strange magic were interestingly entertaining...I found Ever to be a character I could really respect...Recommended.” ―The Bookworm on the Immortals series

Evermore was a great way to lighten my reading load this winter and provided me with a creative, magical story that I really enjoyed. This is the first in a series for Noël and I think she may have a hit on her hands . . . Evermore has good and evil, likable characters, vivid descriptions and a good story.” ―Planet Books on the Immortals series

“I fell into it easily, and loved the world Noël created . . . The fact that Ever had psychic powers was truly interesting. They flowed neatly through the book and I felt Ever's pain. .trust me, this book was really good. I couldn't put it down. Alyson Noël created an amazing new world, and after this book I am so curious to see where it heads because honestly, I have no idea.” ―Reading Keeps You Sane on the Immortals series

“Ever is an easy character to like. I really felt for her because of all she lost and what she struggled with daily...Evermore was a really fast, engaging read with some great characters. It is the first in a series, so I'm eager to see if we will learn more about Ever, Damen and friends in the next one...it's sure to be a great read.” ―Ninja Reviews on the Immortals series

Ugh. Finally.

Sorry, I just had to say it. I loved Evermore, enjoyed Blue Moon, and then this series just went downhill for me. In Everlasting we finally have the completely predictable finale to the Immortals series. First, let me point out that the entire premise of the book is centred around Ever and Damen finding the antidote to Ever's poisonous DNA so that they can finally have sex. Don't believe me? It's even in the summary!

"..and experience the passionate night they've been longing for"

Ugh, so terrible.

So Ever and Damen embark on a journey, inspired by the ramblings of a seemingly crazy old lady that they find in Summerland. Here's what did not make sense to me:

Lotus (crazy old lady), is desperate for Ever to embark on her destiny's journey, as it will lead to her soul's redemption. Instead of putting it in layman's terms, so that Ever understands why its so important that she embarks on this journey, Lotus chooses to be mysterious and vague, which only adds to Damen's argument that she's just senile. We could have saved several chapters of Ever exclaiming that she feels "deep down" that Lotus is speaking the truth and Damen arguing that Ever is just unwilling to move on and be happy had Lotus just been a little clearer from the start. If this is something that she wants so desperately, why is she being so elusive about everything?

Lotus explicitly states that this journey is Ever's, and Ever's alone. She is the ONLY person who can embark on this journey. Then she lets Jude go with Ever. The Damen shows up and its now a 3-person journey. And then Lotus shows up and says that their paths are entwined, but that each has their own journey to follow. WTF?

I must say that I am sad to see the series end. This is one series that even before I was a book blogger that I was hooked on. Let me be the first to tell you that as a long time reader of Alyson Noel's and a big fan of The Immortal series that this book ended nicely. All loose ends were tied. All questions, were answered. And the first chapter was so dynamic and strong that I sat reading this book in my office while at work! I know, bad Savannah!

The first chapter was just wow. I knew once I started "glancing" at the book that I was in deep trouble. The first chapter has a very strong beginning, the reader sees Ever and Damen struggling in Summerland to find answers. What I like about this is the pacing and the plot line. The pacing was right on. I really liked that the reader got to go back to certain points in their history and re-connect with the present. It answers a whole lot of questions that I have always wondered, plus then some. It gave the reader a much broader history on Ever and Damen's relationship.

What also grabbed my attention in this book, is the lives they had in the past. Through out the series, we see several past lives, but this one, it was a SHOCKER! I was like,"OMG!" Gasping at my desk and looking by my office door to make sure no one heard me. Hehe. Ms. Noel did a fine job in bringing this element to life in the book. I felt every emotion, excitement, hurt, and anger while reading this. Simply fantastic!

The characters were more developed. In this book, you finally see them learn and grow. At times through out the series like books 4/5, I got frustrated that they weren't going anywhere. They were being stagnate. I was hoping for a change. Everlasting is the change of all changes.

I have been reading this series since Alyson Noel first published the books. I can't say I didn't like it because it was good, but... I really would of liked a little more spark, since this is the last book. About two-thirds into the book, I started wondering what else could she possible write about, what can happen next?? Like I said, I do not regret buying the book, very much enjoyed it, but its didn't exceed my expectations.

Most of the book was redundant and slow, mixed with some good parts. The writer save the best for the very end. It was a nice happy ending and I really enjoyed it.
This book is so much better than Dark Flame which I thought was awful and the reason why I didn't even bother to buy book #5, but I had to read the end of the story and I'm glad I did.

In my opinion this Series would had been so much better with only 4 books instead of 6. Giving us poor, slow books in the middle.

Being immortal isn't all it's cracked up to be. Just ask 17-year-old Ever Bloom. The past year has been filled with horrendous battles and the painful loss of friends and family. She is completely cut off from Sabine, who refuses to accept the truth of the situation, and her best friend Haven is now dead. Of course, the gift of manifesting anything and everything she could ever want is nice. Well, almost anything. Because the one thing she wants most of all is to be with her soulmate, Damen. But until they can get their hands on the antidote, all touch between them is deadly.

In the meantime, Ever and Damen do find solace in visiting Summerland, the blissful dimension that lies between earth and the next life. There they can view parts of their past lives and remember the good times they've had. But lately they've noticed something strange about Summerland, a gloomy corner filled with rain and mud. It's there that they meet the ancient woman named Lotus, who will propose the chance to change their lives forever.

Lotus offers Ever an opportunity to see into a part of her past life that she hasn't known about --- her first life, and her initial encounter with Damen and Jude. But it's the first step in a grueling journey of tests to fix and reset their karma. Completion of this journey will lead to the purest form of immortal life: her soul's immortal life. But it will also mean giving up certain benefits, and Damen isn't so sure he wants to surrender those. If Ever can't convince Damen to join her, she may lose him forever.

Ever and Damen's journey has been an awesome treat, so fans may greet this final book in the series with bittersweet enthusiasm.
