This book ,unlike the first 2 in the series, is about Tatchi. We get to see Tatchi's relationship with Azor and see what the promise has done to her feelings for him. Frankly part of it made me pretty sad for her but luckily for Tatchi she has people that care for her like Jacob (swoon) and Nicole. We do get more of Ash and Finn so yay to that! The ending was good and it didn't leave me hanging. Brenda wraps up the series pretty nicely.

A lot happens in this story and you have to read the first 2 books in the series or you will be lost. Fortunately those books rock. I totally recommend this series and also the Talisman series.

The following is a detailed review of the Young Adult novel, Everlost, by Brenda Pandos. It is the longest review that Howard has penned to date.

For those readers who do wish to bypass the folderol and cut to the chase, here is what Howard thinks about Everlost:

It is really, really good and you should really, really read it.

In 2011, Brenda Pandos - an established author of Young Adult fiction - released Everblue, the first book in her Mer Tales series. This exciting story was followed in 2012 by Evergreen and now her eager followers have been rewarded with Everlost, the capstone of the series.

In order to appreciate the present, one must first understand the past. Everblue centered around three main characters:

Ashlyn a.k.a. Ash, a very human and personable high school senior living with her parents, grandmother and somewhat bratty younger sister on the shores of Lake Tahoe
Tatianna a.k.a. Tatchi, her next door neighbour and BFF
Finley a.k.a. Fin, Tatianna's twin brother upon whom Ash has an ongoing crush.

Fin and Tatchi have a secret; they're not really human - at least in the conventional sense. They are merfolk from the subterranean aquatic kingdom of Natatoria. The powers that be in Natatoria are very picky about whom is allowed to live outwith the bounds of the kingdom and both Fin and his twin sister are quite lucky indeed to experience the world of humankind. Their sojourn on land is interrupted when the family is summoned home because of a crisis in the realm. There, Prince Azor - who has fancied Tatchi for quite some time - decides to claim her as his mate through the simple act of a kiss; something that binds all Natatorian couples in perpetual bliss.

The other two books were good, but this book took an unfortunate turn and included some unnecessary sex scenes. The other two books had nothing like this. It was completely unexpected and ruined the book. I wish I hadn't have bought it.

This is the 3rd in the series, with Everblue and Evergreen the first two books. Everlost is an amazing finish to Ash, Finn, Tatchi and all the mer people. I know these books are aimed for young adults but as a older adult I really enjoyed each character and it was well written with an awesome story line. Thanks to the author Brenda Pandos for your amazing creativity.

The last book in a 3 part series. I enjoyed this but the story back tracks to book one following a different character. I wish that this story had been blended in with the other two instead of back tracking. I feel like this was written as an individual story but found myself feeling like I missed the original 2 main characters fin and ash. Almost like the write felt their store was done. I think I'd feel less like this if this was blended with the other two. Also I was left a little confused with what happened with fin's parents, Who seem to magical apear at the end. I would have liked a little more about what happened to them. All in all I enjoyed it. It kept me reading. And the idea of how mermaids live felt original and new. Refreshing.

Ever read a book and wonder what the other people in the book are doing and why!! Well Brenda Pandos does it again.. in EVERLOST we learn what our Tatchi was doing. I love her coming to find herself in this book. We she her go from this love lost fool to a strong woman. I love how she is learning in this book and some of the funny stuff had me laughing so hard. This is a great book and I'm sitting here waiting for the next one!!!

After book two I expected a real backburner of a finish. And it's pretty good... Until the last few chapters. The last few lack focus and flutter about trying to tie up loose ends. The story suffers for that. A lot of bouncing from scene to scene.
All that energy would have been better used crafting a more believable climactic scene. A rather clumsy plot twist and an unbelievable mob scene fall flat. As does the fate of the bad guy... I found myself rolling my eyes and going "sheesh"... But suffice to say that the story ends on a high note, even if it all feels rushed and still leaves loose ends. Too many ,I think.

This was an enjoyable series. I was a little disappointed with the change up of both style and main characters in this last book, but it did tie up a lot of loose ends and answer some questions. The author did a great job portraying an underwater world and merpeople. All-in-all this was worth the time to read and I would recommend them to any mermaid lover.
