With the help of this book, I have the knowledge to better understand the hidden meanings of my dreams as well as other people's dreams! My husband, who rarely remembers his dreams, was especially interested in the section on "Tips to Help You Remember Your Dreams." This is a really good dream book, with it's Q&A section, Dream Directory and beautiful design, it's not only a pleasure to read - it looks really pretty resting on your bedside table.
The part on the common dream symbols includes subsections on the natural environment, human characters, animal kingdom, buildings and other structures. Examples in these subsections include the interpretation of various type of weather, various landscapes, type of water, people you know, different types strangers, mythical animals, birds, etc. Generally these are not actual interpretations but what types of things the symbol typically represents. With this information you can then look at your dream to help determine what it means.
These are not deep, involved interpretations but are basic ones you can use to start to understand your dreams. To get a deeper understanding would require many, many dreams over an extended period of time. "Every Dream Interpreted" is professionally done and keeps a professional tone throughout the book. It is based on Dr. Tonay's years of empirical research and is a recommended read for anyone interested in this field of study.
The views developed by these researches range from dreams representing subconscious sexual aggression, desires, and fears to simply another state of once awareness and expression.
In addition to theories on interpretation of dreams this author defines the different stages of sleep along with the significance of their importance in maintaining a healthy mental balance.
With the use f vivid illustrations, charts, graphs, questionnaires, and scenarios from actual real life dreamers this book makes it possible for analysis of many types of dreams.
Finally, use of the word every always causes an exception, this is the mystery portion of dream interpretation. Perception of the analyzer, meaning the same dream may be perceived differently depending on which theory used and the dreamer. Recommended as adjunct in psychotherapy, counseling, and any individuals in search of self-enlightenment.
