Raised by working-class immigrant parents and later exposed to Hollywood's most elite experts in every field, Access Hollywood's, Today's, and Nightly News's reporter Maria Menounos reveals her EveryGirl secrets on everything: her systems to organize life, manage time, and ascend the ladder of success; her lazy woman's workout; her weight-loss tips (how she lost forty pounds and kept it off); and her guide to styling yourself like the stars—a self-proclaimed EveryGirl, Maria often does her own hair and makeup for celebrity events.
In The EveryGirl's Guide to Life, Maria shares personal experiences and photos from her life and professional journey as well as the various mantras, mottos, and philosophies she's adopted from the world's most impressive women. I'm already incorporating some of her suggestions into my life. Having a one stop shopping and errand place makes sense; yet, why do people go out of there ways to commute to do mundane things like grocery shopping, dry cleaning, and pet grooming? Why not go to your local shopping center? Or, why make an extra trip? Do your errands on your way in from work if you commute. It's common sense and time efficient, yet most people I know (myself included) don't do this. We could save so much time. I love her little black book concept. The biggest takeaway - it costs more to be lazy, than to be organized. SO TRUE!!!
A friend once told me to use my little five minutes here and there because they add up, so instead of getting upset waiting in a line, I just bust out my Kindle or phone and start reading a book. This book is full of practical advice like that - utilize your time and make your environment work for you.
If you are looking for very specific, nitty gritty pointers, this is not the book for you. Menounos takes a macro approach at success, which is a good read for a lazy day, when you're traveling, or waiting in line. I'd recommend this book as a jumping off point to transformation not as a how to guide (though I am trying her bean patties recipe tonight).
