I didn't realize during purchase time that most of these articles are from 2011 and before, but they stand the test of time well. It was a good read for mid-2020. I am not very disciplined to read blogs or websites anymore, so I liked the opportunity to have a bunch of well written articles collected in one place. They are interesting, useful and engaging so it was easy to go back to the book until done. Hope Morgan Housel publishes similar collections in the future!

This book is one of those little gems that, due to the author's understanding and wit, convey a powerful message that can be easily understood by the average reader who might not possess a deep understanding of financial matters. As Mr Housel makes clear, the rich and powerful have duplicitous motives; nicely-dressed deeply convincing prognosticators are either lying or flawed; and the best "forecasters" are deeply aware of their own liabilities. He gives numerous examples of highly-paid corporate insiders deflecting blame from their actions and even names names.

The book is a great read. Like this passage "'When asked if Goldman would have survived 2008 without being bailed out by the government, CEO Lloyd Blankfein responded: "Hard to say. ... The risk was enough so that I'm glad to not have tested it."' No, in other words."

The only complaint I have about the book is the high price. I'M JOKING! It's 99 cents, people! Buy the damn thing, already!

I am a huge Morgan Housel fan, so much so that I read pretty much everything he posts on the Motley Fool website. After reading one of his articles I saw an add for this ebook and I thought "Great more good stuff from Morgan!" The only thing is after I started reading I realized that I had read everything in the ebook already over the past year or two. I was really disappointed because I thought I was paying for new Morgan Housel material not re-packaged material. So if you haven't read Morgan Housel consistently then I highly recommend getting this book, but if you keep up with his material then I'd say don't spend the 99 cents.

One of the main themes of this book is that most of the time, even experts are totally wrong when they predict the future. He goes back to Pearl Harbor, when everybody predicted that Japan would invade the US mainland, to the dot-com era when everybody predicted stocks would go up forever, and the 1980s when everybody predicted that Japan would own the 21st century. The book is certainly thought-provoking, and a good read!
