Editorial Reviews

With a punk and blues-infused sound and howling male-female vocals, the Willowz had no problem getting noticed and featured in films such as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and in the pages of press like L.A. Weekly, even prompting Rolling Stone to call them the "only thing in the O.C. cooler than Walt Disney's cryogenic chamber." On Everyone, the Willowz dive deeper into garage rock roots with fuzzy numbers like "Break Your Back," "Twenty-Five," and Beth Ditto-like vocals during "Repetition."---Leah Urbom

So let me start by saying the Willowz are not for everyone. They are a garage rock band who don't have an amazing lead guitar player, and the lead singer's voice does kind of have a nasal quality to it. It is what it is. This band is a good strong representation of an amatuer band that is catchy and appealing. In a sense they are like Neil Young's band, Crazy Horse. They may never wow you, but their music is strong dirty garage rock (notice I am not saying the Willowz sound like Crazy Horse because they don't). With all that being said if you like the Willowz buy this album. It is a more mature outing for the band and shows more depth to their writing and musical stylings. When I say it is more mature, I mean it is more mature for this band. The album is not some progressive rock masterpiece. It is just a steamy bowl of rock and roll. If this is your introduction to the Willowz, buy one of their earlier albums. If you know the Willowz, don't hesitiate. It is definatly a strong outing for the band.

Amazing, I listened straight through in my car without skipping songs. It actually gets better the more you listen to it. Track three and ten are my favorites. There is something seriously rocking about this band, lots of pep. I still do not know why everyone is not talking about this album. I say enough with the soft tunes,I don't want to perish in a coffee shop. If you do not want to turn track 3 up when you hear it, this band is not for you.

6th album since 2004 from California/New York band who play sharp & urgent, driving & dirty
post-punk garage rock with a controlled aggression. It's a high-energy, roots-tinged whirlwind
that delivers a knock-out punch without losing sight of the melody. Simple, potent, riveting rock!
Reminiscent of Gun Club, Strange Boys, Disappears, Dead Moon, Dirtbombs, Mas Rapido,
Avengers.

I just got this CD and I love it! I try to listen to other CDs, but after a few songs, I go back to this Willowz CD because I can't get enough. I highly recommend it.
