The positives: Made in USA; feels durable; the biggest: no stink whatsoever. It fit quite easily, in fact so easily that I am worried it might become loose soon, like our last steering cover; soft to touch - am hoping it makes things less stressful in the miserable LA traffic. The in-between leather (or leather like material in the troughs) feels wonderful to touch, hats off to the quality. I wish they sold covers with only that material.
Cons: The netted fabric section seems to catch stuff. It was my nail's edge a couple of times and that in turn made me a little skeptical of its longevity especially since the fabric covers a majority of the cover. The cover might be a bit bulky for those with smaller hands (not Mr.Trump but the wife). She already expressed some displeasure at the thickness gained on the steering wheel.
I am dinging one star for the product for:
1. It's unusual thickness (though soft)
2. The fabric quality and its potential for not lasting long.
The air freshener is a nice touch, though, I didn't notice the aroma after initial setup. But hey, at least it doesn't stink!
As a note, I tried putting it on my 2010 Ford Fusion and because of the ergonomic form of that wheel it did not work. While I could put it on, it was WAY too thick at certain points to be gripped comfortably. That being said, I feel like it's the Fusion's wheel that is wrong. I'm not sure what wheel cover will work on my Fusion because of how thick it is in some places.
Finally: It is, as advertised, oderless. The little america smelly-thing is a nice extra.
I have tendonitis and it hurts my hands to drive for any length of time. Normally I wear some hand wraps under driving gloves, which helps, but it's not always the best solution. Especially if I want to eat!
It took my hands quite a long time to get used to holding something thicker than the steering wheel without a cover. I really like how it feels on my hands, but they did ache after being held in a different position.
I don't do a lot of driving, however from time to time I will take a long distance trip. I finally took one after my hands got used to the cover and they didn't ache as much during and after the drive as they had on the same drive before I got this cover. So, the cover did do what I was hoping it would
I've not yet used it during really hot weather, but I didn't need to wear my gloves when it was cold in the FJ, compared to how I usually would have without the cover. Although at freezing temperatures you do want your gloves. I do plan to get one for our Tundra - if it'll fit. I've not yet measured the steering wheel to double check.
I was looking for a solution which would make touching the wheel bearable for the first 10/15 minutes till the car warms up, if not warm right away. I looked at several possible solutions including installing after market heated steering wheel (I couldn't find any and even if it existed I am sure it would cost several 100s of dollars), heated wheel cover (wires stick out plus batteries would need constant recharging; also not sure how long the batteries would hold charge after a few years), and then this one which is basically a cover. I decided to try out the cover, waited to see some cold winter days before I wrote a review.
This cover keeps the wheel bearably cold on regular winter days to the extent that I don't even realize that I am touching something 'cold'. On real cold days (it was -24F with windchill for us here last week), I found the cover doing a decent job. The cover made touching the wheel bearable in that weather as long as i touched it on the puffy part.
