But in spite of the write up, I read it. I am glad I did. This was not a story about a couple reuniting after a breakup. It was about a couple who never actually got together back when they first wanted to. This book is actually deeper in many ways than the previous 3. In it, it explores family relations and hurt feelings that have been hidden away since childhood.
While the other 3 books touched on it, the characters all had strong family ties that were lasting and constant. Eve and TC are not part of the large close but wacky Salo family, so they have had to be self reliant. It makes an entirely different dynamic, and very different feelings when the Salo family starts to help Nana Vancy matchmake them.
There is a balance of the higher emotions in this book of more subtle humor. For each moment of 'OMG, that is so sad' there is an ironic or comedic moment, like a tartan cape wearing duck, or a drooling snoring dog. It is a great book and it has made me happy that I read it.
Jacobs just keeps writing fun, enjoyable, entertaining stories! I just hope she continues to write such wonderful, entertaining stories about love, family, friends and community. If she writes them, I'll keep buying them! Thank you, Holly Jacobs.
