How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

The book is a fast-paced read and Caiden spins a fantastic tale of the group's adventure -- believe as much as you like. Only downside is that the end of the journey comes too quickly. I wanted to learn just as much about the filming of the movie but just ran out of pages. It will be interesting to watch "The War Lover" again and feel like I really know the planes involved.

I had to wait 40 YEARS to finally get this book... and it was worth every second!!! Martin Caiden tells a remarkable and TRUE story about the "fight" to get 3 FAA Certified B-17 Flying Fortresses from the desert of Arizona to England.
The Title of the book really gives a good clue as to what the men involved had to go through and deal with... to achieve their Mission.
And the movie these Fortresses flew in, "The War Lover" ain't a bad movie either... especially the flying parts!
I HIGHLY recommend this book for ANY and ALL people interested in WWII, Flying 'Old Iron'... and ESPECIALLY... what ANYONE can do, once they put their minds to doing!!! A REMARKABLE achievement!!!

Having taken my private license check ride as a student from Mary Gaffaney, heard tales of Olma Harwood since I was married, enjoyed thumbing through Ed Link's "Heavenly Bodies", read and re-read Flying Magazine, read Richard Bach's "No Such Place as Far Away" and "Rescue Ferrets", and Martin Caidin's "Rag Wings and Heavy Iron", "Everything But The Flak" was a delight. I'll settle for a deep breath, you provide the punctuation for my review. I bought the book for my son to give as a gift, and paid a premium for another copy for myself.

I've been looking for this book for a long time. It is interestingly written and I'm happy to add to my collection. I was trained as a pilot 50 years ago and this book brings back many memories. 4 stars because I think $30.00 for a paperback book too much.

Great read - enjoyed every page of their post WW-II bomber adventures. Highly recommended. I wish this was in digital format, too!

A great read and a must for fans of the B-17 and warbirds. Awesome to hear about using B-17's for movies.
