This has become one of my favorite books on birds. It is packed with very interesting information. You are guaranteed to learn something new! I bought this book for myself, but whenever I picked it up my children wanted me to read it to them also. The illustrations are wonderful! I have always enjoyed Rebecca Rupp's easy delivery of so much useful information in such an understandable, relaxed, and often humorous fashion. Before I had even read halfway through the book, I ordered my mom-in-law (a fellow bird-lover) a copy for herself. It is a quick, easy read. You'll probably finish the book before you want it to be over. I am thrilled to have added this book to my collection and would highly recommend it for just about anyone interested in birds or learning new things.

I taught a homeschool bird unit of study to my 6yo son over the summer. This was a wonderful, comprehensive resource for teaching about birds. It is funny, clever, has attractive pictures and cartoon-like drawings. The book provides other topics (vocabulary, history, sayings about birds, science history etc). The chapters are in a well-thought out sequence, starting with Chap 1 which covers everything you wanted to know about the egg, including some easy experiments to try. Other chapters cover feathers, flight & bone structure, classification, etc. I plan to search for other books and resources by Rebecca Rupp because this one was great.

This book is filled with interesting tidbits about birds. If you were expecting anything that you can't find on the internet, this is not the place to look, but I still am glad I have it. It makes for nice review.
