Editorial Reviews

Review

"Annette has done it again! She has written another great book one that will stay with me for a long time to come if not forever. If you are looking for a great book about the civil war and slavery that is right up there with Roots or Gone With the Wind then look no further as I think Everything We Lose will fit that category to a tee." -The Avid Reader Blog

From the Author

The U.S. Civil War (April 1861 - April 1865) was the bloodiest war in American history, a conflict that pinned brother against brother and split thousands of families. More than 600,000 men died as a result of battles, starvation and disease. Much has been written about the largest and bloodiest battles and the leading men who fought and died. As usual I wanted to show a lesser-known angle, that of a young man and his best friend, one of over three million 'common' soldiers and the parallel ordeal of a slave fighting for his freedom. While all main characters are fictional--to me they are, of course, quite real--the battle scenes and war-related leaders are based on history.
