Karin SarnmarkReviewed in the United Kingdom on November 28, 20155.0 out of 5 stars A BOOK WORTH TOUCHING
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchasePut simply, I love this book - it is wonderful. Not only is its subject matter and content both original and intriguing, but also the book in itself is just beautiful. One will immediately sense that every physical aspect of it has been meticulously thought out (just as the laid-out items themselves) - from the attention-grabbing sleeve to the quieter exposed spine, which allows you to lay the book flat and immerse yourself into the so very different lives that its subjects lead. I can't think of a more prefect gift - I've already sent one to my sister in LA, my mother in Mallorca, and I could't resist one for myself here in London. Oh, and it's my best friend's birthday in January - done.

Sarah ClarkeReviewed in the United Kingdom on November 30, 20155.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful reflection on how we live our lives today
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThis is an amazing book. Documenting the lives of 62 people through beautiful photography of the objects they touch in a day, with supporting commentary, it is both an insightful showcase of individuals across the world, and a wonderfully artistic book, perfect for the coffee table. The mat finish cover and exposed spine immediately single this out as a special kind of book, and the photography inside is quite mesmerising - I never thought I would find bananas and shaving foam so interesting! A brilliant way of celebrating diversity across the world, but perhaps it's the similarities between people that are most interesting.

Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI sent my first copy back to Amazon as the spine was exposed. Now I read that this is some kind of a "feature"! Yes it makes the book lay flat, but it comes across as a binding error. The book has a wrap-around paper/card flap sellotaped to the actual cover to display the title of the book and the author. This kind of defeats the purpose of the "trendy" disregard for the spine. Given that the book is written by someone who writes about "things" we touch, I would have thought a little more thought would have been put into this element of design. The content of the book is interesting and thought provoking.

Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseBeautiful book. It really makes you think about how you live your own life compared to others. It's definitely not something that's going to gather dust on my bookshelf, I'm sure it's something I'm sure I'm going to go back and look at again and again.
