In Evolution, players create and adapt their own species in a dynamic ecosystem with hungry predators and limited resources. Traits like Hard Shell and Horns will protect you from carnivores, while a Long Neck will help you get food that others can't reach. With over 4,000 different species to create, every game becomes a different adventure. So gather your friends and family around the table and see who will best adapt their species to eat, multiply, and thrive.

The game is about, you guessed it, evolution. Is developing different traits to survive in a world that is evolving too. You control some different species that evolve through the game. The strongest survive while the weaker becomes extinct.
This game is very simple yet very deep.
The turn consist in drawing cards, playing some cards to the feeding pool, playing cards on your species and then attacking if necessary... and that's all! The core of the game is on the different traits and the starving phase. If you can't feed your species they'll will become extinct, if another player's carnivore attacks you... well... your become extinct too, yet, if you have a carnivore and can't attack another player species because the traits that they have... boom... your carnivore is extinct. This mechanic makes the game quite deep.
There are a lot of things happening in front of you and that makes me play this game more and more.
If you like games with simple gameplay, very strategic, lots of replayability and beautiful components, this is your game.
Pardon my bad writing, english is not my native language and I know that I made some grammatical mistakes.
Good for people who like:
- games that require you to manage resources
- screwing over your friends (for now)
- card based game play
- beautiful artwork

100% would recommend!
I've played twice, so far. Once with three players (me, my wife, and a friend of ours), and once with four (me, wife, 9 year old, 12 year old.) Both games had different flavors, different ecosystems, different challenges. Both games went relatively quickly, even including the rules explanation. In both games, all players had fun, including the losing players. So, if you're looking for a thematic, strategic, but family friendly game that doesn't take all night, I can recommend this one highly.
The only warning I'd give against buying it would be if you don't like games that force adaptation to shifting circumstances. (Some people prefer more chess like, less randomized challenges.) This game is about evolution, and it's about figuring out what will thrive in the environment, and about changing the environment to fit your strategy wherever you can.
From a components level, the cards are decent (though not superlative) quality, and the chits and game boards are durable. I like that the publisher includes plenty of chits and counters, and even glossy, durable player aids for 6 players. My only complaint about the components was that my box doesn't open/close smoothly, but that's probably because my local game store only had a box with a dinged up corner. ;-)
10/10 would purchase again. :)
The first game we played I was very worried about my species going extinct. In the first round both of my species were eaten by carnivores and it was upsetting. I learned very quickly that holding onto species and trying to keep them alive was not the best strategy. The strong will survive from round to round, but the weak will get you points even if they only last for one round.
This game has become one of the favorites at my gaming group. A good game for me is one that I can enjoy playing even if I don't win, and Evolution is fun even if you don't win. This is a game I highly recommend you check out.
