SPOILER...SPOILER...SPOILER...young boys, all lacking memories of a previous existence, and apparently not noticing there might have been one, are prepared upon an isolated island as surrogate hosts of alien embryos. every other individual is a female (also alien; and vaguely aquatic in anatomy) who performs a strictly medical function in that process. one such pretend mother develops feelings of tenderness for little nicolas, and sets him adrift in a boat that will wash him ashore and back to his own kind. provokes thought, and also impatience in those who want a logical explanation of the film. if it is being implied that these ladies have evolved as a separate species, even darwin would be throwing popcorn at the screen.
Great movie premise. It is not the usual American progression but that makes it shine more. It is a little confusing and some will feel a bit awkward about the relationships depicted. I wanted a bit more from the movie, it ended with a few questions (story arc) not fully resolved. That made it 3.5 stars for me, but I rounded up!
This is a movie from human subconscious. :) Somebody's hidden fears and fantasies. The cinematography is good, but the story is unfinished. Some kind of medical madness. :) And it's not at all a thriller. Mor like a fantasy. Did not worth money.
