Size: 14" Chop Saw
I'm giving this previously excellent saw (5 stars) one star because they changed the design without changing the model number sometime in early 2014. I have 5 of these saws now with my crews, and obviously I wouldn't have 5 if I didn't think they were pretty damn good for the money. But the last one I got was changed substantially, presumably to save the manufacturer some money. I don't think I'll be ordering any more.
The old saws had:
A strong and well built cast aluminum base - very heavy duty
A much better mechanism for locking the saw in the down (shipping or moving) position
Basically much better built all around

The new version has:
A cheap stamped base that will surely bend or break much more easily
A little piece of chain to hold the saw down for moving/storage instead of the built in locking tab of the earlier model
A cheap feel all around

There is one good thing about the new saw: The handle design is much improved. My only complaint about the old version was the handle, which was badly designed and difficult to use with one hand if the saw was mounted at workbench height as all mine are. It's as if they designed it to be used sitting on the ground. Despite that, the original version of the Rage 2 was the best metal cutoff saw for the money by a wide margin. It certainly wasn't near the quality of the best saws, such as the Rigid cut off saw, but that saw is 5 times more money than the Rage. I wish they hadn't changed anything on the new Rage II but the handle. Then it would be 5 stars plus.

I am a hobbyist and that is why I chose this particular saw. I could not afford nor did I need a professional grade saw. Overall, I have been very happy with the saw and its performance and I have cut quite a few linear feet with it. I'm actually on my third blade and I have a fourth. It is fairly sturdy overall and I have found all the movements to be smooth and precise. However, I do have some caveats:

1) 1" arbor... this is annoying as you have to buy a Rage blade or look for another one. Most are diamond or 5/8"
2) Clamps are almost worthless. Another reviewer mentioned it and it's true. As soon as you try a 45 the clamps are in the way. For a blade that was designed to do miter cuts I don't get it.
3) All markings are off. Don't trust them at all. I don't know how that happened but it did.

Size: 10" Miter Saw Verified Purchase
We waited for a couple months and a few jobs before we could give this saw a complete review.

First off this is one of a very few of it's kind. Try to find a ferrous chop saw and you'll be looking at bunch of abrasive models, a few 14" straight cut toothed, and even less with the ability to miter. In that this saw has a great price point, and vast abilities.

What we liked:
The slow start is great. sliding action is smooth. It cuts steel very well (I prefer a higher speed for aluminum, but this will cut anything you put in front of it ). I like that it has a single pull trigger. The pistol grip is nice. Power seems ample, we cut everything from 11 ga 2 x 2 steel tube and thinner to 1/4" x 2 flat bar and 3/16 1.5 x 2 steel angle and it never bogged down. I will advise that if you plan on using this to cut a quantity of steel then order the 10" 54t steel blade. The one that comes with the saw will fade off quick. This is a deficiency of the blade though not the saw so I will save the specifics of blade performance for its own review.

What we didn't:
The saw requires quite a bit of adjustment. There are a lot of screws and bolts that needs to be adjusted and tightened in order to get this saw to perform well. It could be a bit much for a weekend hobbyist, and a bit annoying for the daily builder. The hold down clamps are necessary to make good cuts and extend blade life, but the hold down on the motor side can't be used because, well the motor is there :) There is quite a bit of play in the parts and this makes it difficult to get consistent cuts. There could be better instruction on blade changing, and one big negative, the screw that holds the blade has come loose a few times leaving the blade to free spin.

Size: 10" Miter Saw
I have found it to be very well built and so far no problems. I currently use it at a sculpture studio where I weld at. So, I'm not a full-time, professional welder, who uses it every day, all-day. But, I have been cutting through 1/4" steel no problem for a project of mine. It's cutting speed compared to a 12" or 14" abrasive saw is many times faster. Compared to a Miller Spectrum 375 it is also much much faster which is the reason why I bought it. The steel I am cutting is 11" in width max and this cuts up to 11-3/4" (IIRC) so it really fits the bill.

It has a laser sight which so far seems to be fairly accurate. The sliding action if fairly smooth and the rails are about an inch in diameter. The miter adjustment is the squeeze grip type with a tension knob. The beveling action, which I have not had a chance to use yet, could be a tad better. If you needed to specifically use a saw for miter cuts then another one that has a better adjusting mechanism might be preferred. With this saw you have a lever that you release tension and then you rotate the armature. It works well but I'd be nice if it was as robust as the miter adjustment mechanism. However, it is a solid lock on your angle so it does work as intended.

As far as blade longevity I do not know. If you were to line up my material end-to-end I have probably cut through 40'-50' of 1/4" steel. The cutting speed is now slowing down to that of a 14" abrasive saw and I am still on the packaged blade but your mileage may vary. Rage also has another blade specifically for steel, the 10BLADEST. I will try that next since most of the work I do is in steel.
