This story had my emotions all over the board. I thought Declan was sweet and such a great book boyfriend, but then I wanted to strangle him. I wanted to yell at Holly. These characters became near and dear to my heart as I went on this incredible journey with them. Everything happens for a reason and in their case, I do think in the end it made them stronger.
Sage and Baxter who are their best friends I also absolutely adored. I really hope we get to see more of this foursome! Great read!
I encourage you to add this one to your must read list and follow along as Declan tries to win back Holly after an unfortunate and untimely misunderstanding. This book has a great mix of serious content and silly antics - Dec and Holly's BFFs (Baxter + Sage) are hilarious! When I first finished the book, I was a little annoyed by the original conflict between D/H...upon further reflection though I think that's part of what makes this a good book - it's REAL. Humans have silly misunderstandings and make mistakes (poor choices). It's how we move forward that really counts.
Well done, Ms Kelly, well done.
You laugh and cry harder. Declan and Holly are the perfect couple until one secret tears them apart!
Will they find their happy ever after? To find out you are going to have to read the book!
Highly recommended read!!!
The Evolution of Us by D. Kelly is a full-length, second chance, romance novel.
Meet Declan James and Holly Ryan. They were best friends in school, a couple since highschool and through college. They're soulmates.
But over a mistake Declan decides to break them up. Both are devastated, broken. And now 2 years later he wants a second chance from Holly. He wants to show her they're destined to be together. He wants her back so bad, he bargains and has a " get Holly back " campaign.
I can't say how much I love this book. I literally just finished The Evolution of Us and now I'm sitting here with a major book hangover. I read it in one sitting, I was hooked from page one. I had to know what happens to the characters, I didn't wanted the book to end, but I couldn't not know what happens to them.
I love the story, the writing and the words. I love the characters, neither is the villain, but neither is perfect too. There is much pain and hurt feelings, but also forgiveness and love, a love of a lifetime. And let me tell you, the sidekicks are simply great. Please, pretty please give me a Baxter book, D. Kelly - I'm begging you !!
This story has it all—tension, angst, suspense and heartbreak. I've smiled, laughed, cried and was angry at some point. It is not often I feel so connected to the characters, but D. Kelly has accomplished just that. I love her books, her Just an Illusion Series is one of my favorite series' ever, and The Evolution of Us is another favorite read of mine.
I Highly, Highly recommend The Evolution of Us and wish I could give more than 5 stars. Thank you so much, D. Kelly !!
