On first report, you would think that is was mounted wrong, but it only mounts one way, and the screws are tight enough that there is no wobble, it can only be in one position when mounted. And no I did not mount it upside down, this is not my first rodeo. It might just be a case of poor alignment with the burner holes, but I can't mount it in any other position, so to improve direct gas flow I will probably trim part of the grill off to allow the gas jets unfettered access to the glowing coil.
Basically this is a very close replacement, but it is not an "exact" replacement. And because it has a wire filament, instead of the thicker coil ribbon in the old unit, it looks to me like it will erode and fail faster than the original.
Because this is a serious defect in a part that is involved in the use of explosive gas, I can't really give it any leeway.
The broiler, and top burners on my oven worked, but the actual baking part of it would not. Tested the piece, and replaced with this one and all is well. It was very easy to install, and the internals of the oven extremely simple to see whats what. Even working with gas, having some common sense is likely enough to replace this piece.
You can probably tell from the reviews that this part fits a multitude of different ovens by different manufacturers.
You might need to check a couple different videos on YouTube to get the right instructions on how to install this. In my oven, there's no way to access the screws that attach the igniter to the venturi, so you also need to remove the venturi. Some ovens won't require that extra step. The wire connections were easier on mine, however, than some other instructional videos I've seen, where you'd have to remove more panels and guards.
Lights the gas quickly and works well.
