I loved the push and pull between Aidan and Roxie, the fact that he was willing to see the woman inside and not the shell of a woman that she appears to be.
Living with her folks gives them grounds to worry about her and also gives her grounds to worry about them worrying, so she is well and truly caught in a cycle that she doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to break, but living with depression on a day to day basis is draining and I thought that Roxie’s personal displayed all the traits of a woman teetering on the edge of almost giving up. So, when she ignored the invitation to Cupid Café I wasn’t surprised.
Aiden on the other hand is maxing out on life since he lost his wife, her death leaving a void that his is filling by taking more risks than is probably healthy but it keeps him sane!
Roxie was a major part of Aiden’s, so when they both end up at the Cupid Café… was cupid ready to come out to play????
I loved that Aidan was willing to encourage Roxie to think outside the box, to do things that she had never done before and to take back control of her life, but would what started out as the most fabulous friendship turn into something more?
The something that they both needed?
Well you will have to read the book to find out whether that is the case or not but let me just say that you may just be more than a little surprised.
Unexpectedly, one day an invitation arrives for Roxie to attend a mysterious function at Cupid’s Cafe. She has no interest in going and went as far as to throw out the invitation but seeing how much the idea of Roxie leaving the house meant to her mother, Roxie decided to go. When she reached the cafe, she had little expectation for what the night would bring. She had no clue what was going on or who she would meet. She just wanted to get her mother off her back about getting out of the house.
Aidan Craig is a man who throws himself in risks. Not that he has a death wish, his risks are more for extreme sports. Even his job as a fire-fighter is a risky occupation. Aidan’s life was turned upside down when his wife was diagnosed with terminal cancer. After her death, Aidan changed his life and now lives to take risks just so that he would be able to feel. He may have dealt with his grief but he is not willing to ever let anyone in his life, not willing on taking the chance to love and lose again.
Aidan also received an invitation to come to the cafe, not knowing what it was for he decided to come and check it out. Once there imagine his surprise when he sees Roxie. The woman responsible for his recovery after the loss of his wife. Although, this was not the Roxie he remembered. Something was wrong about her, she seemed fragile and broken. Feeling that he must do something for her, Aidan does the only thing he can. He offers her friendship.
Friendship is only thing that Aidan feels he can offer and he truly wants to help Roxie. She was there for him when he needed someone and he is going to be there for her. Roxie on the other hand finds Aidan attractive, because well he is hot and she is not dead, but she really doesn’t care to see him again. She really does not care about much but when he takes her home on his motorcycle she feels a spark of excitement and that spark turns into a slow-building flame, which is exactly what Roxie needs.
I loved that Ms. Sizemore was able to write a story dealing with a difficult subject and not make it cliche or overly dramatic. Roxie’s struggle is real and she owns her struggle. I enjoyed the relationship between Roxie and Aidan. It was cute, sexy, and serious as well. Exactly Like You is exactly what you need to be reading! It is a delightful journey between two hearts separated by fear and doubt by connected through friendship and something more. I highly recommend!
This review is based on a complimentary book I received from Author, Lori Sizemore. It is an honest and voluntary review. The complimentary receipt of it in no way affected my review or rating.
Exactly Like You is the first book in the Cupid's Cafe series by author Lori Sizemore. I really loved this story. Made me smile as I read it. Beautiful love story I could not get enough of.
Roxie is a former social worker. She believes she is cursed to never find love. She suffers from crippling depression. She gets an invite to the Cupid's Cafe and goes just to make her family happy.
Aidan his wife has died. He is an accountant turned fire fighter. Can't stop taking risks. Never turns down a dare.
Roxie never takes chances.
Aidan seems hell bent on killing himself with the chances he takes. He remembers Roxie she helped him when his wife died. Now he wants to be the one that saves her.
Roxie is worried she is too boring for Aidan.
But Aidan is a decent guy, and he is not going to give up on the one person he has grown to love.
I loved these two. They are what the other needs in life. Perfect for each other.
I would love to read more in this series in the future and find out who falls in love next.
