Do not buy this item. This is a standard, unexceptional, basic strainer. You can purchase literally any other strainer and be equally satisfied or dissatisfied with the alternative, the same as you would having purchased this strainer. The main difference, and reason you should not purchase this strainer, is because these idiots attached their label to the product AS A STICKER. Unlile literally any other manufacturer or distributer, which would use an easy to remove gob of adhesive to attach the label, these geniuses want you to spend 30 minutes of your life scraping and scrubbing this horrific nonsense off the bottom of the strainer, the part riddled with holes, before use. Since there is no compelling reason to purchase this strainer over any other strainer on the market, just save yourself the trouble and purchase one not labeled by a bunch of children that think stickers are neat.

After approximately half a lunar cycle worth of cleaning, I finally managed to scrape off about 80% of the disgusting green glue they use to slap on carnival sized stickers. In the process I’ve managed to lose half my fingers, scrape my knuckles to the bone, and resort to licking the sticker to death in an attempt to remove it.

But seriously, there’s no need for four pounds of green glue and a sticker, I’m not running down the street with my colander displaying the inside sticker, so it’s a pointless marketing tactic.

I’m thankful for the massive amount of muscle gained scrubbing this to death, however. Beats going to Planet Fitness.

Not enough holes — water pools

Ok so I never thought I’d have to write a bad review for a colander. The honest truth is that there aren’t enough holes at the bottom before you get to the holes in the side, and every time I make pasta there’s a signickst amount of water just sitting at the bottom. You have to tilt it all around to get the water all out or else pour some water back into your pot. I’ve never had a colander for his before so frankly I wish I had gotten a different one. Alas

Let me just start by saying I have no idea why this colander has such a high rating. A colander has one job, which is to allow water to drain from whatever you place into it. Does this task seem complicated? No. Does this colander transform what should be a simple task into an impossible, near-Sisyphean endeavor? Well, read on to see.

When attempting to use this colander to drain water from some spinach, I found there remained a significant layer of water at the bottom of the colander, try as I might to shake it around to drain the offending liquid. It was as if this colander had suddenly gotten tired of its day job (being a colander) and decided to moonlight as a bowl.

It also feels important to discuss the number of holes that this colander has on its bottom, which is 34. One should not be able to so easily count the number of holes a colander has on the bottom, because it should be a very high number, because that is the point of a colander. It is also essential to point out, as one may be able to note from the picture, that there is significant space between the bottom holes and the side holes, rendering the side holes nothing more than ornamentation, as there is no way that water can or would drain out of them.

To prove just how ineffective this colander is at being a colander, I measured out half a tablespoon of water, poured it into the colander, swished it around, and then poured the remaining water back into the measuring spoon. Reader, I am being completely honest when I tell you that the remaining water nearly filled the measuring spoon all the way up to the top.

Upon deep self-reflection, my plight at having to come to own this sorry excuse for a "colander" may in some ways be what I deserve for purchasing a ten dollar colander from Amazon. I know this review might read as a joke, but the only joke is this colander. I implore you to spend your money elsewhere.

Glue residue will not go away

Not the best idea for the manufacturer to put the sticky label on the inside bottom of drainer...glue residue is there to stay...we tried boiling water, left it to soak in soapy water overnight, scrubbed even with nail polish remover...this picture is the residue that is still left over. Really disappointed with this...if we can ever get it clean we’ll use it but don’t really want our food touching the chemical leftovers from the glue. Terrible.

I would have given this product a higher rating if the sticker on the new product had not left a sticky residue on the inside of the colander. I tried washing the glue with dish detergent for half an hour but could not fully rid of the residue. Hopefully, the residue would come off with after more washes. Otherwise, this could have been rated 5 stars.

I imagine the strainer would be quite good if I ever get the chance to use it. It comes with this 5" sticker on it and the adhesive is proving impossible to remove entirely. Seriously, we have made 6 attempts using scrappers and steel wool and there is still a stickiness to it. Why? It is completely unnecessary. We order from Amazon and often pay a little more for the convenience but this has been very annoying.
