The tag is even smaller than some people described... which was about the size of a nickle. It's oblong, so I'd say it's the length of a nickel and a bit less than the width of a dime. I just slipped it on her collar ring alongside her name tag. Doesn't bother her a bit. I'll have to rethink my approach when it gets rainier. Right now, it's not in any casing or waterproof protection... that would make it bulker.
Also, I just accidentally ran the locator remote through the washer. It still works perfectly; didn't even have to put in new batteries. Thankfully I've not yet had to discover how it would fare in the dryer.
Thanks Pet Loc8ator and all of youz' who reviewed it for us!
Update: after about 2 years with this product we have replaced the batteries only twice, and it has helped us find an escaped kitty many many times... I agree with some reviewers that the signal is not extremely long; but in the past two weeks alone I have been able to catch a signal outside on my cat and eventually find him when he was over four houses, well over 100 feet away... It was only one light and didn't go up to more until I had gotten significantly closer; but I still found him with this little doo-dad. My immediate strategy has become when I start the search I immediately go to the corners of my lot, and hold the receiver high in a slow arch/circle to give it as much of a bird's-eye view as possible.
