I guess I'm one of the unlucky customers who received a cable that only charges, and does not allow file transfers. I removed and reinserted this product to my laptop's USB ports (with a Sansa Clip attached) and the mp3 lights up and shows it is charging, but the laptop never shows a device is connected. The cable itself is very thin for a USB data transfer cable.

Bought this as a spare charging cable for Mini USB devices such as a GoPro camera or GPS unit. Have not checked to see if it can be used as a sync cable, as I will not be using it for that function. My reason for marking this item down to 3 stars is that I specifically needed a 1 foot cable to fit in the space allotted for the charging devices and I did not want to make room for a bulky coiled-up cable. The cable as-delivered is 30 inches long. If your cable requirement is not that specific, then this item will be fine.

No data connect...worthless junk do not buy. Not marked so no way to tell when it gets mixed in with other cables and then you waste your time debugging connection issues.

I have no idea why these are even produced. The manufacturing cost savings has to be almost 0. I threw them out, not worth the time to even mark these as power only and find somewhere to store them from the normal cables

These are nice little 12" (total length) cables. 9" discounting the connectors and strain relief. I have not used then for very long yet, only around 6 months, but so far I cannot complain. I use them with external hard drives, tablets, MP3 player, charging my phone, anything I own utilizing a mini-USB connector. For the price they are excellent. No quality issues. Electrically perfect, and physical build looks very good. If I needed more, I would order again.

I needed cables in a hurry, and ordered these. Despite being advertised as data transfer cables, I received charging-only cables. This was pretty obvious when I received them, as the cables were too thin to have data wires in them. I confirmed with a multimeter that only the power pins are connected, and the data pins are not wired.

No data connection, only power for charging things. Poor quality cable in general, it's thin and has very poor strain relief compared to the average USB cable (see photo). Also, the cable I received is 20 inches long, which is nowhere near 1 foot.

This cable is advertised as sync/charge but it is charge only. It's cheap enough I won't bother returning but I am very disappointed, and Amazon should not allow this misleading marketing, gives me low buying confidence for this type of purchase.

Great product. This little cable can do so much so if you forget it, you're up a creek! That's what happened to me. I needed this cable to be able to make VOIP calls and it came in handy when I was on the road. It's a small cable, very easy to travel with and comes in handy for so many electronics.
