Review

"Fortune" Walter Olson writes as if he were waging war -- and he takes no prisoners.

"The New Yorker" This brisk, bright book explains that there are two reasons for the proliferation of lawsuits in recent decades: the unintended effects of well-meant legal reforms, and greed....What's really striking is the clarity with which he expounds legal theories and complexities.

"The Wall Street Journal" Like many other people these days, Mr. Olson holds lawyers in such low regard that if they were the antidote to a plague, he'd still hesitate to hire one.
