Bewertet in den USA am22. November 2018I recently purchased this book to refresh my knowledge base on the latest prenatal nutrition guidelines for my practice. It came highly recommended by multiple colleagues and I can see why. Elizabeth Ward's style of writing is easy to understand, positive, and makes the reader feel confident in knowing what is best for themselves and their growing baby. The recipes in the last chapter are great and are specific to the different stages of pregnancy as well as for those dealing with any side effects such as nausea or food aversions. Highly recommend!

Ms. Ward is an expert in her field and knows how to provide important information in an entertaining way. The chapter on what to eat even before becoming pregnant sheds light on the importance of healthy eating. I recommend purchasing this book as a shower gift for new moms - they'll LOVE it. In fact, I bought two for my daughter and daughter-in-law and they were impressed. Thank you Elizabeth Ward for your words of wisdom.

Liz Ward does a fantastic job presenting the research in a digestible form for patients to understand. Plus, she's also got a collection of recipes to show you just how to put her words into action! Written in conjunction with the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics, this book is a great addition to any want to be mom's or already mom's library!

Januar 2019I’m returning this book, I was looking for a book about nutrition and the first section I opened it up to gave me immediate anxiety as it pointed out the higher likelihood of miscarriage for women over the age of 35. Sorry, I didn’t come here to remind myself the risks of older women being pregnant, I wanted good nutrition advice. It also discusses all the other things that can go wrong, such as GDM and blood pressure disorders. How about I worry about all that if it happens and deal with it with my doctor. I don’t need to stress over what could go wrong. And the recipes were mostly useless. Sorry, I’m not going to consider a smoothie with decaffeinated coffee, as the process for removing caffeine is wrought with chemicals I wouldn’t put in my not pregnant self, let alone subject my baby to. How about I just limit caffeine intake. Anyway, if that’s additional info you’re looking for, maybe you won’t be disappointed. But if all you want is a book on nutrition, this one does not deliver. Too much other stuff to sift through that could increase your anxiety unnecessarily.

Elizabeth Ward breaks down the latest research into easily understood, practical steps that anyone can follow. And, I love the simple, healthy and delicious recipe ideas! I highly recommend this book.

Bewertet in den USA am11. März 2019Liz Ward has done a fantastic job breaking down nutrition needs for mom and baby in this book that goes from pre-conception, to during pregnancy and after. She addresses many concerns new moms-to-be may have, including weight gain during and after pregnancy (and how to safely lose weight while nursing). She includes detailed meal plans and guidelines for what and how much you should eat at each stage of pregnancy, and has tons of delicious, quick, and simple recipes for a new mom to make. If you or someone you know is expecting, get them a copy of this book!
