review by Mike Robinson author of numerous apologetic books including "Truth, Knowledge, and the Reason for God" on Amazon.

The book is divided into 2 parts, the first being to explain different methods of study and the significance of Bible study in general; and the second is a practical how-to with selected passages to read and meditate on and answer their example questions.
The best part of their book is to show you that you don't have to depend on a book or fellow human being to supply questions or cross references for you, but that you can and should explore the Bible for yourself, asking the 5 W's, reading commentaries and study Bibles, and so discovering the truth of God's Word for yourself. This is not to say you shouldn't use study books or helps, but rather you should also look deeper instead of being spoon-fed everything.
Some of their suggestions are very similar to Kay Arthur's Inductive Bible Study method in her Precepts ministry. For example, you should read a whole book in its entirety to understand the context. Study up on the history of the writer, or the culture, or who it's written for. Dig deep, verse by verse, by looking up words in the original language, writing out passages in diagrams, and reading the insight of commentators.
You'll get a chance to try it out on the book of Hosea as the authors prompt you on how to learn to do more than skim read on the surface.
I received a free copy of this book from Harvest House publishers in exchange for this honest review.
