Top Customer Reviews
I bought the book in advance after receiving an email from Hay House (the publisher) encouraging fans to buy the book right away so that it could get high sales, which would boost its Amazon ranking among best sellers. So, I ordered the book without benefit of any reviews. I thought it might be helpful to folks who are not familiar with Louise's writings, that boosting the sales might help them find this wonderful resource.
But I do feel a bit deceived, in that so much of the material is just a repeat.
Nonetheless, if you are new to Louise Hay's books and philosophy, I would highly recommend either this book or I Can Do It. This book does have a little bit of additional material. However, if you are primarily interested in listening, I'd get I Can Do It for a more satisfying listening experience.
Kudos to Amazon Kindle Customer Service, however, because I am already in the process of receiving a refund.
This is another delightful little book that she has written, but it's more comprehensive than her others. In fact, she has given us affirmations for nearly every important area of life: Health, Fearful Emotions, Critical Thinking, Addictions, Forgiveness, Work, Money and Prosperity, Friends, Love and Intimacy, and Aging.
I would highly recommend getting this book along with another that I just finished reading. I've been so inspired by Serendipitously Rich: How to Get Delightfully, Delectably, Deliciously Rich (or Anything Else You Want) in 7 Ridiculously Easy Steps, which was written by Madeleine Kay, along with a foreword by Joe Vitale. This book gives you that same fun and delightful feeling as it moves you positively on a path of change. However, it also gives you some practical steps which are akin to putting these life-improving affirmations into practice.
"I can do It" book with cd you have heard 95% of this already. And since its of no
value to dwell on lack (out $12.00) this will conclude my review.
Louise defines an affirmation as:
"Every thought you think and every word you speak is an affirmation."
Louise's words speak to our souls and offer gentle loving guidance as how we should talk to ourselves on a daily basis, replacing our self defeating thoughts with new patterns of better serving beliefs as it relates to health, fear, critical thinking, addictions, forgiveness, work, money and prosperity, friends, love and intimacy and aging.
Each chapter is eloquently laid out and begins with a checklist of sometimes all too familiar negative statements that we say to ourselves, probably without much thought, which is why she wants us to begin to identify the way we think about ourselves so that we can begin the healing process. Next she introduces several exercises to help us further examine why we may have the beliefs that we have and where they may have originated from in preparation to release those old negative beliefs. She then takes the reader on a journey back to those original negative statements and transforms them in a new positive affirmation, giving the reader clear examples of how they can start to affirm the good and not focus on the bad. Here are a few examples of a negative thought pattern transformed into a positive affirmation:
